OT: Venting Included, Life Ponderings, Probably Just Skip This One
Waring: Extreme self indulgence ahead. I just needed somewhere to vent, and you're really the only community I'm a part of that she isn't.

Remember this? Final results:
Almost 2 years.
1.5 years alone in an apartment
2 weeks without internet
30-40 pounds. I'm not sure which, but it's up there. Used to be around 140-145 but I'm up above 175.
Well..things haven't exactly worked out the greatest over the last month with my girlfriend and myself. Then a couple weeks ago she broke up with me. Now she's just about going out with someone, I think she's holding the title of relationship off for a bit.
Looking through that old post, I'm surprised I never thanked everyone for their help, encouragement, and support. I wasn't too busy..well maybe I was, but never an excuse for the outpouring of help that I got. I'm not sure though if I used any of the specific examples. I did stay away from ramen I guess. But it was the words behind the words that pushed me on.
So that means that, almost 2 years after I moved out here, I'll be moving back. I've got school here, and that's too much money to throw away. But, after finals, and probably Christmas, I'm moving back home. Right now, I don't know how I'm getting back home. I want to drive, but my car is pretty much dead and won't hold enough stuff. Anyone set for a roadtrip?
Anyone know how to wiggle their way out of a lease? Can I claim that it wasn't a good apartment? (Wasn't really, the heat sometimes goes out for a day or two and it dips to around 55 in here.) I'm guessing my cell phone bill will be something I have to deal with, but the company I'm with can drop it to $8 a month at least.
So, I'm looking forward to the New Years time period. I'm looking forward to being home with my family and friends. I'm looking forward to McCovey Chronicles getting me through to there. I'm looking forward to catching some Giants games again at AT&T, and finally meeting some of you guys.
So thanks for reading if you did, like I said I needed to rant somewhere, vent. I'll be seeing some of you down at the yard next year though.

You’re ~21 years old, bright, funny, and well liked (at least in these parts—for what that’s worth).
You’re moving on to the next chapter in your life. Embrace it.

Well thanks, although I don’t know about funny, I didn’t really win anything (Hint: STUFF NOW).
I’m trying to just work on going into the next part of my life. I talked to my ex (wow….very strange to say) earlier over IM about our cell phone stuff and just out of the blue after she says that I should yell at her, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. I’ve never been a yeller about anything, but right now I’m not trying to do anything but move on.

Oh…my…Gawd.
If I had a freaking dollar for every time that was proved out for me..by me…
-ahem-
When i was 17 I hitchhiked one summer’s day from SF to LA to see a friend I’d met in Alaska. It was summert vacation from boarding school and I didn’t want to wait two hours for a bus.
That was just a leisure – time adventure…what you took a running leap at was something of far greater magnitude , and I really applaud you for having the balls to throw yourself at it. The thing with your ex must be tearing you up pretty well , and all I can say is work (School) is indeed therapeutic in that it’ll allow you (if you’re mentally tough enough) “to forget about life for awhile” (Thank you , Billy).
There’s also something rattling around my brainpan that sounds like “The best way to get over someone is to get under someone” , but that’s a desperate measure. At best!
Anyway , I feel for ya. My e- add is on my profile…give me an address , I’ll donate $20 to your “Get Me The Hell Back To The Bay” fund. Seriously.
If this is indeed your community they’ll follow suit asbestos they can.
Go ahead and lambaste me for putting the onus on y’all , I really don’t care.

No financial donation necessary.
If you’re going to donate, give to something important. Grant’s BlogoTelephonothon if you want to impact the community here, a charity involved with tk’s illness she has conquered, or anything else. Money is not a large issue in this adventure. I’ll probably end up calling for my mommy to come pick me up anyways. Seriously, because she’d be able to use a van, get all my furniture (ok, get my cabinet) and all my other stuff home without mailing anything.
Hopefully my school and work will keep me busy enough too, especially with classes coming to an end and the studying need goes up.
If anyone wants to donate to me, when we see eachother at AT&T, Municipal Stadium, or at a meeting, buy me a beer. Then I’ll buy you one.
P.S. I guess I’ll take donations under one condition, if it pays off my teachers to give me A’s and gives me enough for season tickets at SF behind home plate. And I don’t think I’m worth that much to the community so I’m safe.

Damn, I’m sorry. I hate it when moving across the country for someone doesn’t work out. I hope moving back here is helpful mentally and I’m sure it will be.
Wriggling out of a lease: the only way I was able to do it was by claiming that the rental agency rented the apartment across from mine to a convict … which they did … and he broke in and stole my checks and defrauded me of $1K … anyway. I moved out that week and they gave me the deposit back.
Good luck!

As someone who’s been crapped upon several times in her life, I can safely say that good things come of the crappy times. Smart, strong people learn from the bad times. Pain is growth. It sounds stupid and contrite, but it’s the truth.

Cheers to you, Walrusman. And Welcome back to Cali.

You said it Jeff Goldblum.
Not a thing wrong with what you did, you live, you learn. I’ve always appreciated relationships that didn’t work out (after you get over them of course) because, in a way, they taught me a lot. They taught me about what I want in a relationship and about what I don’t want. Check this one off as a learning experience.
And plus, you listen to Rush, so obvioulsy your ex just doesn’t get it. Her loss.

I get it
I understand where you’re coming from. I moved out to Virginia this year for school thinking it was perfect for me. Opportunities are abound in D.C. for a poli sci major and the election this year should have provided a multitude of opportunities. I left a girl behind and the state I love and I know now, two months in, I was wrong.
I don’t what my advice is worth, you’re farther ahead than I am.
work as hard as you can in your environment right now. Focus as hard as you can to improve your future prospects. Enjoy yourself when you find the opportunity, but remember that your time in that area is short. The thought to keep you through this, as you said, is home. Think of family, think of the beaches, think of everything that makes you happy and remember you’ll be there soon. That’s the thought that keeps me sane and I hope it keeps you as it has for me.
Be good and if you can’t be good, be safe. The best of luck to you and know that better times ahead.

I'm not sure who(m)'s ahead of who(m)..
Yet we can probably learn from each other. What’re your plans in D.C.?
Hopefully my work in school will allow me to continue when I get home, at a CSU or UC. If not, I don’t think I can take another semester of school off (it was too hard skipping a year and a half of school and coming back already) so I’ll have to take some more classes at West Valley. Tip for you then too, don’t skip a year of school.

Too bad about the relationship, but maybe deep down she was really a dodger fan!
About moving:
Throw a wild party and get yourself thrown out.
Ask around at school and see if someone would be willing to either take over your lease, or sign a new one for your place.
If your apartment building has a waiting list you also might be able to get out of the lease.
Don’t expect your deposit back. I’ve never lived anywhere for less than 3 years and gotten it back, no matter clean the place was when I left it.
When Mr Merope moved out here from Ohio, he sent a lot of things via US mail – especially anything that would qualify for “media mail.”
Clothes are generally light weight and also don’t cost much to mail.
And lastly… try not to obsess too much about your current situation. Look ahead a bit to the future and all the good things [liiiiike …. not spending January in Wisconsin] waiting for you.
by Merope on Nov 1, 2008 6:00 PM PDT 0 recs
Yea.
It’s a nice place for a kid at school. About 20-25 minutes away, but in this area that’s nothing. That was my first plan. Unfortunately I tihnk that 2 other places here are vacant, so the waiting list isn’t gonna help.
I actually got my deposit back from my last place..of course that was a very interesting circumstance. Hopefully I can get some back, or else maybe sap it from whoever takes the apt.
I sure am looking forward to a lot of stuff. Missing out on Jan in Wisconsin is going to be quite nice, but I’m looking forward to nice powdery snowboarding, Yosemite, and finally hanging out with my pals again back home.

We’ve got a Yosemite trip coming up. We love to go in early December or January. Nobody’s there. (But sssshhhh don’t tell anyone)
They’ve recently redone the Tunnel View area and we are anxious to see it in person.
As for the apartment, does your city have Craigslist? I see that all the time on the Sacramento Craig’s List: “Dropping out of school, must move home, please take over my lease….”

Craigslist?
That’s a no. Even the biggest city around here doesn’t have it, or anything like it because they’re too small.
If you go to Yosemite for a small hike, depending on the snowfall/rainfall and when you go you might want to check out a small falls that’s pretty secluded. I don’t have any links or anything, I’ll try searching more, but it’s north of 120 on the road to Hetch Hetchy. Once you drop all the way down in that first canyon, it goes up the canyon. Start on the left side of the river, north side and it’s an hour or two up the river. There’s a use trail that goes up, and the only real big elevation gain is in one spot where there’s a landslide and the trail goes up the canyon wall a bit. About 20’ fall of the South Touolumne. If it’s been a rainy winter so far as opposed to snowy it’ll probably be running well.

I’d like to rest my heavy head tonight
On a bed of California stars
I’d like to lay my weary bones tonight

You seem far more optimistic and well-adjusted toward the situation than I would have been. A short demonstration:
How it happened in real life
Girlfriend: Hey brah, I’m going to the store to buy a pack of cigs.
WalrusMan: Okay, see you soon, pookie-pie!
Time passes
WalrusMan: I wonder where she is.
Phone rings; WalrusMan answers
Goofus: Check this out, man. I just saw your girl having a cig with some douche.
WalrusMan: Well, that sucks. Thanks, man.

Too cheer you up

As for the lease, my only advice you be to try and find a person to sub lease it from you. Usually landlords don’t want to go through the hassle of finding someone to rent the place but if you’re willing to do the leg work sometimes they’ll let you do it. Plus it’ll give you something to do and keep you occupied in the meantime.
Hang in there, the best coast awaits your return.

Hey man, something like that kinda sorta happened to me in 2007, when I moved to NYC. My girlfriend, who I had known for over a year prior and was living in New York at the time, flips her wig as soon as I get there and ended up threatening to slit my throat in my sleep and all sorts of unseemly threats. Yes, I had known she was crazy beforehand, but I was full of myself and thought, "oh, she won’t be crazy towards me
." I had uprooted my entire life in Portland to move to Brooklyn only to move out of her place in W’burg less than a week later, due to her dangerous lunacy. I took a sublet in the East Village, trying to salvage my ill advised move, but when I went back to get my things a week later, she poisoned me. What, I figured that she was calmed down by then, I joined her in some tea waiting for one of those guys with a van from Craigslist to show up. Turned out my cup was poisoned. Then I remembered that she had done this before, poisoned a whole group of people at a party she promoted. I was not special, I was just another victim of hers. I stayed out my six week sublet, but I knew it was over for New York. You can’t get back on the right foot after being poisoned. The interesting thing, and I’m not BSing here, it was the Giants that pretty much got me through the horrible prison sentence waiting to come back to the West Coast. Looking forward to the game at 10pm and everyone’s comments in the Gameday Threads was what got me through.
Morals: Crazy may be fun, but it will always turn on you. Also, listening to a baseball game at 1am is stupid. Plus, West is Best.

Jesus Christ man.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.
