Sabean’s yearly quest for free relievers with high K/9 numbers is one of his better qualities. One of these days, the Brandon Villafuerte/Scott Atchison-type acquisition will make Sabean look really smart. Any day now.
He's been pretty good the last couple of years though

His career K/9 as a reliever is much higher than as a starter. Some improvement is to be expected, but he really took off.

Spring training NRI. Minor league deal.
I don’t have a problem with this at all.

“Miller is known for his many tattoos. In a move sometimes called the "Justin Miller rule”, Major League Baseball told Miller that he had to wear a long-sleeved shirt under his jersey whenever he was playing because hitters complained about being distracted by Miller’s sleeve tattoos."

Yeah....
That’s what I get for not reading all the way through the post :-)
My adopted son Matt Downs. Lost in the wilderness of mediocrity.
Oh right he’s that guy! I didn’t make the connection for some reason.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

on the one hand, smart signing. low risk, moderate reward possibilities.
on the other, the huge LA tattoo on his back gives me pause. could the dodgers be attempting to plant their own spy within the SF organization? somebody get on the horn quick with secret agent ned.

you removed that stray code…was it doing something bad?
This was my 1st attempt at using an imageHost (photobucket),
but it looked OK on IE (corporate modified version) and Mozilla.

They both look OK to me.

I would like to offically rename Mr. Miller -- Gamer McSwaggerty
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.
Not again
Just what we need, another player who’s been poked with alot of needles….
Found this on 60ft6in.com (found it on google).
Justin Miller, RHP, reliever
Miller throws a fastball/slider/splitter combination. His fastball tails and bores in on RHs. Miller’s slider is a big breaker, and he will mix in an unpredictable split-finger pitch. Also, if you give him $1000, he’ll tatoo your name on his right buttock. 8/9/08 CSJ
*fastball(88-92), slider(77-82), splitter(79-83)
Don't think, it could only hurt the ballclub.
So can we pool some cash to put BEAT above his LA tattoo?

I'd pay $1000
If he would put “NO” on one buttcheek and “WALKS” on the other.
