An indy league pickup for the Giants named to top prospects list by Baseball America
Mitch Liveley, the reliever the Giants picked up from the United League in Texas, was named to Baseball America's top independent leagues prospects. Liveley was third best on a list of those singed by MLB teams. The former Sac State pitcher was released from the Colorado organization in 2007 following an arm injury but rebounded to pitch effectively for the SAL champion Augusta Greenjackets in 2008.
BA says of his stuff: Lively started out throwing in the high 80s, but before long he was back throwing in the low to mid-90s with a relatively free and easy delivery. He also has a splitter that was effective as well, but with San Angelo, he was able to rely almost entirely on his fastball.
I like Liveley. I'm hoping he can be one of those guys who comes out of nowhere to develop into a contributor for the Giants.

nice
they mention two guys from the Chico Outlaws
Brad Hennessey: the next Kevin Correia
Kevin Correia: the next Brad Hennessey
He has some sort of MLB record, too. Like, most victories to start a career, or something.

Wow. Ninety-eight career appearances before his first loss. That’s one part luck, one part one-and-done platooning, one part skill, and one part Dusty never trusting him fully.
