Open Playoffs Thread, 10/6
Is anyone else pretending that the Giants actually moved to Tampa in 1993 and are still in the playoffs, or is that just me?

Does that mean we get Evan Longoria, Scott Kazmir, BJ Upton, and still get to keep the Giants in SF?

OT - Cheerwine
At long last, I tracked down some Cheerwine locally. I bought two bottles (one for me, one for the fella). There was a lady ahead of me at the register at BevMo buying a few bottles; in fact, the guy manning the wine tasting table in the back (yes, I stopped off there first. Don’t judge me!) told me that there’s a devoted local following, and the store goes through its supply pretty quickly.
At any rate – I enjoyed it very much. I agree with whoever said “like Dr. Pepper, but better.” It had a good flavor and the smoothness of real sugar.
Next time I’m at BevMo, I’ll be loading up some more.
So to whoever first brought it up – thanks for the suggestion!

It helped the Angels being in the same division as the A’s, Rangers, and Mariners.

This. They got fat (and lazy) beating up crappy divisional foes.

Not too shabby
check their record vs Boston during the season
by wilriv21 on Oct 6, 2008 8:35 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I know they went something like 8-1 against the Sox.
But playing nearly 60 games against the Rangers, A’s, and Mariners helped pad their record.

Clinching so early probably didn't help either. Probably hard to keep the fire burning.

Look what happened in 2000 and 2003.
Giants basically clinched early and look what happened to them.

All right Rays, time to beat the everloving shit out of the Red Sox. Make me proud.

I need to cheer for the Sox and the Dodgers.
Every time I root against these two teams they win.

Meh, the Angels only have themselves to blame for losing the series. 40+ men or something left on base. Insane.

Anaheim Angels
Angel management has many player decisions this winter. Gonna guess they re-sign Teixiera and let KRod walk. They also will want to add Wood to the mix at either SS or 3b

Maybe it's just me
But Jonathan Papelbon strikes me as an enormous douche.

Horrible, horrible, horrible sportcoat.

I like how Papelbon got his sportcoat with the champaign.

And I’m glad I won’t have to see those Thunder sticks unless it’s given away at Philly, LA, Boston or Tampa for LCS.

Who would though?
We would see two AL East teams in the ALCS and one team isn’t the Yankees?

I know most of you we’re rooting against the Sox, but wasn’t it pretty satisfying to see Scioscia smallball himself out of the playoffs?
Travis Denker can hit a little. That's why I drive his bus. Not much about baseball here .

Seeing Mike Scioscia, John Lackey, and Garret Anderson FAIL was nice. There are still too many Angels from the 2002 around to actually root for this team.

The only Angel I like is Torii Hunter. It’s pretty easy to not care about the team.

I didn't mind the Angels nor the even the Rally Monkey
I just hate those noise makers. I’ve gotten over 2002 even though it didn’t exist.
