Did he really say that?
I thought I just heard on KNBR that our old buddy Jeff Kent is giving money to the "Yes on 8" people.hmmmm
According to sfgates searchable database:
$15,000 apparently from a Jeff Kent from Austin Texas....

If you click on details, yeah, it’s definitely him.
I remember back in 2004, I discovered that Peter Magowan had given a whole bunch of money to Bush. In the interests of bipartisanship, I’ll refrain from mentioning how that made me feel.

Which reminds me of a pet peeve of mine: often, people say that Bush, while he owned the Rangers, traded Sammy Sosa to the Cubs. Putting aside the fact that GMs make trades, not owners, the Rangers never traded Sosa to the Cubs. They traded him to the White Sox, who traded him to the Cubs for an aging George Bell.
God am I anal retentive.

Are you a Niners fan? I ask because there’s a ridiculous rumor that Condi might become the new owner of the Niners..

Someone posted something on this too, but I deleted it because it is a pretty touchy political issue. Just to let you know in case you wonder why this is gone in 10 minutes or so.
by Natto on Oct 30, 2008 2:54 PM PDT 0 recs
It’s not our politics, it’s Jeff Kent’s politics, that should be fair game. If he were donating to No on 8 I’d consider voting yes.
Not saying I’d do it. But I’d have to think about it.

Sure, but people will bring their politics into it anyway.

Why hasn’t this post been deleted then? It seems implicit to me from the original posters tone and word usage that they are implying, “Jeff Kent is an idiot because he supports [insert controversial issue].”

Unexpectedly, I don’t think that anybody, even the original poster, has said anything here that is really political at all. Well, except wilriv, but even that was very quickly self-policed. I think that the FanShot hasn’t been deleted because we’re actually doing a pretty good job of keeping things reigned in here.

Not quite, the original poster was implying “No wonder he hated SF so much.”
Jeff Kent is just an idiot. [period] end of sentence…
Which actually pains me, the dude also gives tons of money to women’s sports charities, I’d like to like him, but it just can’t be done.

The $15K check harrumphs, “I’m straight, dude.” But the mustache squeals, “See you in the alley, sailor.”
Best.

To be fair...
98% of baseball players probably would do the same thing. But Kent put his money where his mouth is. Oh boy. Comedic possibilities ensue.

agreed
I respect anybody who gives their time or money to a cause they believe in, regardless of the cause. (of course that might be because I work in politics, so I depend on that for my livelihood)

It is about the process
People voted no. Twice. Mayor went and said who cares. Four judges agreed. Should have sent through court system to overturn as unconstitutional rather than change on their own.

Jeff Kent is a horrible human being. Because he is a Dodger. Fixed.

Actually, I disagree
He was a horrible human being before he signed with the Dodgers.

Sure, we don't like Jeff Kent
But you know who’s awesome? Steve Young, that’s who.

What I love about this...
is that regardless of how you feel about Prop 8, the end result is:
WE LOVE STEVE YOUNG
and
WE HATE JEFF KENT
so all is right in the world.
