Open Playoff Thread, 10/3 & 10/4!

Just use this one for Saturday, too. Save the Earth, and all that.... Hey, at least I updated the widgets!

A part of me is actually glad that I'm not watching the Giants lose in the playoffs. It'd kill me when they'd do well for 162 games, and then roll over in a handful of games.

A much larger part of me knows that I would sell various body parts and/or family members to get the Giants back to the playoffs.

Go Cubs!

Suddenly, I’m really glad that I’m not a member of Grant’s family.

I was already glad not to be one of Grant’s body parts, so no change there.

Scott McClain: Great story, no place on the 2009 Giants.

Is it morally wrong to root for the Dodgers to make it to the national league championship series or the World Series, so that they can get really close to winning, have it in the bag, and then lose and be absolutely crushed for the next fifteen to twenty-five years? Is it wrong to root for the Dodgers if underneath you are really rooting for their ultimate demise?

by Mrbasepaul on Oct 3, 2008 3:12 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Ugh, Radnich had a whole bit on rooting for the dodgers today. “If you’re a Giants fan, it’s your division, it’s your league. You should want the dodgers to win….”

Consider the source of course… but geez.

I’d guess he was just doing that to get a reaction, but there was at least one guy that called in and agreed with him. I didn’t listen to more than ~10 minutes of it. And of course on KNBR 3 of those 10 minutes were commercials.

But the team still sucks.

Fun facts

As we head into games 3 of both Phillies-Brewers and Dodgers-Cubs here are some facts.

Teams that won game one in the NLDS before this season were 23-3. Meaning 3 teams that won game 1 lost the series. One is the 1999 Houston Astros which lost to the Atlanta Braves. The other two times were by one NL franchise. This franchise was managed by a former Dodgers outfielder who won 103 games as a rookie manager in 1993. He is also the manager whose team’s 1st baseman saved that manager’s young son during game 5 of the 2002 World Series and is now the manager of the Cincinnati Reds.

Either the Dodgers would win the series (barf), or Boston gets its own Dynasty

Go Red Sox!!!

Shot me, I’m the resident Red Sox fan here. (Although part of me wouldn’t mind if they lose so that ESPN could be depressed. Hell I have my two titles. Now if only the Giants could win, I could die happy)

I wager I’ll get hanged for expressing my enthusiastic attraction to Josh Beckett, but he’s the only thing (the ONLY THING) keeping me from projectile vomiting through this entire series.

What an asshole

I’m watching highlights of the White Sox-Rays. Wise was stealing 2nd, AJ subtly stuck his bat out to try and distract Navarro. The Rays should of hit that asshole in the head for that.
