We were talking about the possibility of the Giants going with pinstripes (not speculation, just curiosity of what it would look like) in this thread, so I made a mock up.

that's kinda how I feel

not hideous, but not inspiring. Of course, it’s hard to tell how it would actually look

I vote no

not because it looks bad, but I’m a huge fan of the cream home unis.

Nah.

Honestly, before changing their main uniforms (which I think are just fine), I would like to see the Giants bring back the black alternate uniforms.

I actually mostly liked the black unis. Much more than the pinstriped mock-up, anyway.

Less arm, more talk. Raisingcain is a GAMER.

Nor was I.

I did like the black road alternate, but not the black home. They were worn only five times in 2003 I believe. So obscure, I can’t even find an image with GIS.

My adopted son Matt Downs. Lost in the wilderness of mediocrity.

No thanks

I don’t like alternate unis. I guess I’m old school on this but teams that just have the home white/cream and grey roads just have a classic look in my opinion.

I mostly don’t like alternates, especially for the Giants. I think the current set was chosen with great care to highlight the tradition and history of this franchise. This franchise makes a very big deal about its past, and i can see where they consider it combined with the yard, one of its biggest assets. The current set has nothing wrong with it in my opinion, and everything right. I’m not just being a homer when I say I think they are the best in all baseball. I really think they got it 100% right. And, my opinion of course, I don’t think they should mess with a prefect set by adding another piece that is not only not necessary, but clashes with their franchise identity.

by j14 on Oct 5, 2008 1:10 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Eh.

I’d rather have an alt. home uni with a script Giants (think ’77 – ’82) in black with orange and gold as accents on a creme colored top like they have right now (same pants).

Also an alt. grey road uni with either the script San Francisco like they had on the dugout jackets a while back or the interlocking SF like the ones in the 80s (except with the modern interlocking SF)

Barry Zito - Mildly half-OK! Sometimes.

by Revolution1 on Oct 3, 2008 11:40 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I just want black stirrups with orange sanis. That’s all. And more of the Gigantes jersey.

I support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

I don’t like the one on the left.

by chilibean_3 on Oct 5, 2008 7:28 AM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Honestly, the mock-up looks noisy because the lines are a lot darker and thicker than they ever would be in real life. That actual design doesn’t look bad at all. I think maybe the team name would have to be in the script font just so that it’s no so many straight lines, but the essential design is fine.

But I agree that pinstripes just aren’t a Giants look. Maybe it’s just because of the Yankees, but it feels very East Coast to me.

Your comment is egg-corntastic, but other than the execution I think the basic idea behind it is probably solid.

what does that mean?

Still defending Rich Aurilia, and the Niners' classic unis

by wjackalope on Oct 4, 2008 6:29 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

An egg-corn is apparently a common mispronunciation of the word acorn.

Likewise, moot = mute, insure = ensure, all intents and purposes = all intensive purposes, compliment = complement.

-

Mostly I was just trying to parallel the same structure that got your first response: “your photoshop/comment is noisy/egg-corntastic, but the actual design/idea is good.” I’m afraid, though, that my execution was poor, even ift he idea behind it was amusing.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

The comment that I’m replying to is so monumentally wrong that the mere fact of its existence distorts reality in such a way that the line between true and false has grown knotted and jagged, tearing in places along its length and rendering the simple distinction between essential polar opposites nigh impossible as they freely cross that previously uncrossable liminal gulf.

I was just messing around.

I actually meant the dots on the arm not the shading. Although now that I think about it Jarret Leto in Requiem for a Dream had a hole that big. Yikes!

And if you replace the Orange with Yellow on your Pinstripe Template, it would be the exact Hanshin Tigers home uni!
