Cano
Buster Olney reported that every team that needed a second baseman has contacted the Yankees about Cano. Most of you may think that Manny is the solution at 2nd, but I would rather see his range at short and put Cano at second. If you give him a pass on him April numbers, he hit .297 for the season. Ya down form the .330 he usually sits at, but still really good.
Here is the proposal you will all hate...
Cano for Sanchez and Sandoval.
Sanchez is good enough, but Cano could be a HOF player, and Sandoval is a few years from not having a spot on our team anyways with Connor, Buster, and Angel taking over the only spots he can play.

to Cano for Kung Fu Panda. If I’m going to sit through two more years of mediocrity, I at least want some one exciting to watch besides Timmy.
My adopted son Matt Downs. Lost in the wilderness of mediocrity.
Robbie Cano.
I worry about guys like Cano who need to hit .320+ to be valuable. He was awesome defensively at 2B last year (+17 by Dewan) but this year he was the exact opposite (-16).
I like Sandoval too much to trade for him, even though in the past, Cano has been a pretty good player. From 2005-2007 his BABIP was .363 and .331, this year it was .286. We know that hitters can influence their BABIP more than their pitching counterparts, but which one is the real Cano?

Also, before anyone points it out, his LD% suggests that he was a little unlucky this year. His xBABIP is closer to his career levels.

That’s great news for Goofus, Groug, Evan, Natto, Xanthan, and WalrusMan.

I might do a Sanchez and Sosa deal. Yankees would want more though.
Oh and…
I am Cameron Wood and this is my son and business partner CW Culberson.
I've got an idea
How about we trade for a position other than the one where we have the most candidates.
Trading for a 2b is like trading for a CF, C, or lefty hitting platoon only 1b on this team.

I like Cano a lot. But think about it — if every team wants him, then you’re essentially in an auction. You’re going to have to outbid everyone. That’s no way to build a team. That’s how you end up paying $126 million to Barry Zito.
Far better to find a talented player everyone is down on, as the Reds did with Brandon Phillips three years ago.
Have you considered
Trading Sanchez for Phillips? I think this idea has merit!

So you’re saying it’s likely that Sabean will acquire Cano this off-season, then.
Billy Hayes: His job is better than yours.
Perhaps.
But Cano has had a bad year, both offensively, AND defensively. There have been some questions on his attitude / makeup. If you want to buy low, if you believe that he can rebound from this season, now is probably the time to do so.
Just because teams have enquired about him doesn’t necessarily mean that they are willing to give much for him.
Sure, it’s better for a team to try to get a Brandon Phillips, or an Alexei Ramirez.

I'd think about Sanchez
but not Sandoval
And my reasons for thinking about Sanchez for Cano has more to do with how I think about Sanchez than how I think about Cano
Is this a Yankee fan trolling?
"he walked 18; new league record! Struck out 18, another new league record! He also hit the sportswriter, the PA announcer, the bull mascot twice..."
Honestly!!!
So instead of just a one-for-one trade, you propose we trade MORE of our above average talent for a smaller return.
That’s so brilliant, I might just NOT swear at you in this post.
It’s simple… We’re not a great team right now. If the Giants are going to make any trades this offseason that cost them even one of their above average players, they should be getting younger players in return, and more of them. The other team needs to want what we’ve got more than vice versa. Anything else is stupid.
"He called the sh** POOP!" -- Adam Sandler
Cano was benched for a couple of days by Girardi in September for playing like a dog. I wouldn’t say no to a deal for him, because he’s better than anyone we have in that spot, but I wouldn’t trade either of the two you mentioned, let alone both of them. We all know the Yankees need a centerfielder and more gamers on their team. The player we should give you for Cano is obvious.

Aside from everything say above, it’s my impression that most folks here prefer Burriss at shortstop over second base.

Personally if the Giants some how picked up good under age 32, team controlled, SS that could handle the position I would not be against shifting Burriss back to second should he get beat out at SS. As long has he get frequent playing time so he can keep developing. Its very possible Burriss’ future (2+ seasons down the road) is at season or playing both 2nd & SS.

Hopefully Emmanuel can become a good shortstop, since his bat will likely play better there.

This is probably the only fan-site I regularly visit where the trade proposals are consistently skewed in favor of the opposing party. The intention is to make the home team better! A promising left handed starter for Robinson Cano – That I could see. That’s appropriately skewed towards the home team. The Yankees wouldn’t do it, but at least it’s in the ballpark.
But adding in Sandoval, who’s almost a carbon copy of Cano – Well except Pablo has more power potential – Oh and one of the three positions he plays is catcher.
Here’s Cano’s career path.

This is a good indication how similar these player are, and likely will remain.

he’s one of the few reasons to be excited about this team. The team won’t trade him. Cano can’t replace that. and we have 2nd basemen.
