I think the Dodgers are a much better team than their 84 wins suggest, and that's exactly the kind of team that can go nuts in the postseason. C'mon, stupid Cubs. Prove me wrong.

In the Rooting Guide thread...
I explain in great and eloquent detail why it must be Tampa Bay vs. Milwaukee in the Series.
Also, would some sort of multi-plane midair collision involving the Dodgers, both Sox(s) and the Cubs be too much to ask? Also, I’ll need Shane Victorino to be on board one of those flights.
Thanks.
Patron saint of pesky hitters.
I’d settle for a massive sinkhole to open up at Citizens Bank Park and just swallow Victorino.
If there was a chance for both the Red Sox and the Cubs to be playing in the LA area, we could hope one of the faults down there goes and those old shitty stadiums crumble to the ground, taking all four teams with them.

It beaks down like this.
I hate the Dodgers (duh).
I hate the Cubs. They lost their "loveable loser" image the minute they started shelling out large cash to buy Soriano, Lee, Lilly, etc.; Lous Piniella is a hump. Plus, Ron Cey once played for them..‘Nuff said.
I hate the Sox(s); Bosox just ’cuz and Chisox ’cuz of Pierzpricknochincockgobbler and shameful adoption of Journey song. Guillen is annoying as well.
I hate the Angels; Something about 2002…I forget what exactly. Plus, Scoscia, ex-Dodger.
I don’t hate Philly, just strongly dislike them. The Victorino factor.

I’ve had that too. It’s wonderful!
Probably the most common way to eat it in the land of it’s origin is fry it with small bits of pork and vegetables, covered in spicy sauce. It’s so delicious, that I wept at the ineptitude of all the hippy-style tofu I had eaten until that point.

I took a tour of Anchor Brewing yesterday—-I recommend it if you’ve never gone. Tour is free, informative, and includes all the free beer you can drink at the end.
*some restrictions apply
just bring your own mug and dip it in the bathtub in the men’s room
Awesome! I’m getting ready to brew my own beer in a few weeks and I’ve got a recipe for steam beer.
Fun fact, did you know that Anchor has trademarked the phrase “steam beer” and that’s why you don’t see anyone else making it? It’s basically just a really hoped up lager that isn’t refrigerated during the fermentation process.
I love Anchor Steam, btw.

What the tour guide said was that there were several “steam beers” a century ago, but that Anchor was the only one to survive Prohibition.
It did originate in San Francisco, which is cool, but I’d always heard that they TM’d “steam” and that’s why don’t see other people making it. It’s in a little brew book I have.
Have you had their Liberty Ale (I think that’s the name) it’s great.

Historic Liberty Ale
*brewed in the original Liberty Bell
which isn’t used for ringing anymore, anyway
As an aside, the reason that it is called Liberty Ale is that it was intended to be a one-time brew back during the bicentennial. It was so popular, however, that they ended up making it a mainstay.
That’s good beer knowledge!

SPOILER
Also, I peeked in the Hop room. They use predominately Cascade and Nugget hops (and one other that I couldn’t make out). Might want to keep that in mind when you brew your Steam.
I think they TM’d it under Fritz Maytag, who didn’t take over until the 60’s. Back in the OT’s and the 1910’s, it was widely used by others.
The Liberty Ale is great. They gave us that one, the Steam, the Porter, the Summer Wheat (which is completely filtered), and the Barleywine.
Right on.
It’s a shame I don’t live closer to all the McC beer lovers, I’ve wanted to start a beer club for awhile now. Do tastings once a month of various styles of beer.

Excellent. I’m wondering how hard it would be for everyone to get the same beer for the tastings? Distribution of beer is wacky and can be a regional thing.
Or, we could do a mail thing in which we trade beers with each other. That is, if your state allows you to mail alcohol. I’m sure that VA does.
It would be cool to start a blog about it, too.
We should gauge some more interest in this to see what happens.

I’ve been mostly brewing pale ales at this point, experimenting with hoppiness and different yeasts. I’ve done a couple brown ales that have been well received.
I’m going to buy the equipment to go full grain in the next week or two, and start to experiment with lagers (turning my refrigerator into a chill fermenter).
My dad’s wine is good because his grapes come from Napa. He’s been doing it for almost 25 years. I still tell him he made the wrong career choice.

I want to run him and Brett Myers over with a truck. A very big truck.

Zambrano annoys me..I don’t really want LA to win, but I won’t be said if Zambrano gets lit up.
Billy Ripken is not a fuck face
Damn it seems like almost everyone I root for is dying horribly in the playoffs.
WHY.
Barry Zito - Mildly half-OK! Sometimes.

I check in from time to time, but with the exception of the Rays game today, all of my rooting interests so far have gone down in defeat. Makes for a not so enjoyable TV viewing experience.
The Cubs certainly aren’t helping matters any.

why are they overusing Zambrano?
Game is over. I’d take him out, and get him rested to potentially bring him back on short rest for game 5, if they get that far.

holy crap
well, they won their last game on Friday, but their head coach resigned and Coach Parks is back in charge of the football program, though not the interim coach. It’s pretty crazy.

That kid was actually Mark Prior. He’s been breaking his arm for years to try to get that velocity back, but he just ends up getting hurt all the time.

It kills me to say anything complimentary about the Dodgers, but damn, Furcal’s two-out, bases-loaded bunt in the 2nd was a great, ballsy, aggressive move. Kept LA alive in the inning and set up Martin’s three-run double.
I will now light myself on fire.
No, my Crazy Crab bobblehead is not for sale.
I seem to recall Furcal and Pierre doing that exact play against us in back-to-back at bats last year.
