I don’t agree. He could be a Dodger hater who wants to have a reason not to commit suicide if the Dodgers win. I’m thinking of betting money on John McCain for President. If he loses, I’m so happy I don’t care I lost the money. If he wins, at least I get a payday out of it.

Grant, this may be your best post ever. No offense to the create your own adventure threads, but this is pretty awesome.
The good news: as disappointing as this finish is for Dodger fans, it’s probably enough for the team to keep Secret Agent Ned around. And I think we all know that’s a good thing.

My point
is that while we needed to score runs, we needed to score runs with base hits and walks to have base runners on continually.

I’m waiting for the Jeff Kent explosion. Has it happened yet?? I don’t care what condition his knee was in, you know he thought he should be starting over Blake DeShitt. Fourteen days and one second after the World Series ends his agent will be calling the Giants. They should say no, but this is going to happen.

he’d want too much money to be a righty platoon first baseman, which would be the only way he could help the Giants. And to make it worse, Bochy would probably play him everyday.

Now we just have to worry about the disasters Colletti cooks up this off-season.

I’m just amazed that McCourt thinks that Colletti is doing a good job, and doesn’t realize that he made the playoffs this year because he continued to spend more money to negate Ned’s bad moves. Does he realize how much money Ned has wasted on Nomar, Juan Pierre, Andruw Jones and Jason Schmidt?? At least Sabean’s bad signings were made to fill holes in a team whose farm system was barren, but spending all that money on outfielders and first basemen when you have Kemp, Ethier, Loney, and some other talented kids who don’t even get to show what they have because you brought in so much veteran crap is ridiculous. All the good moves that were made by this team, like Ethier, Lowe, and the drafting of these good kids were made before Colletti got there. Even the Manny move is going to look bad, because Manny will probably not come back next year. He changed his answer from yes to “we’ll see,” not five seconds after they were eliminated. That move only pays off when your team goes all the way. It didn’t, and Andy LaRoche ain’t coming back. Colletti must be the best brown noser of all time, and guys like DePodesta must have told McCourt to fuck off.

How does that explain the Zito contract?
Why isn't Sabean held accountable for leading the Giants into many years of mediocrity???

Well, we’ve needed, and still need starting pitching. In retrospect, someone like Lilly would have been a better signing, but I think the FO took a good idea (pay for elite talent) and used a shitty process (no clue how to identify elite talent).

Also
Rowand was completely superfluous. We could have easily gone with Nate in RF, Winn in CF, and Lewis in LF, with Robert as the 4th OF. Ort or Rajai would have been the 5th OF.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.

Had to miss the actual game last night as I was at a Council Meeting for work (Native American Tribal Government). I did have ESPN’s scoreboard/ gametrack running on auto refresh on my blackberry during the meeting.
It’s sitting on the desk in front of me and at the last out, I said under my breath, “Yes!!”. Half the room turned around and looked at me like I was an idiot. It was well worth it. You can never celebrate enough the Dodgers losing a big game :-)
