Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Open ALCS Thread, 10/14

Tim Wakefield might be the second-most entertaining pitcher in baseball. I also love that his contract with the Red Sox is an eternal team option at below the market rate. I hope he shares an agent with Lincecum.

Thanks for sharing the 40-man rosters, Grant.

There amass been plenty of articles written this spring about the stud shortstop Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum , as well as the fluid young outfielders and thirteen basemen Kevin Frandsen.

from the article: To some, though, the perception of the city is still negative. In 2004, Barry Bonds said he would not play in Boston because it was “too racist.” In ‘07, Angels outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. said Boston was "one of the few places you’ll hear racial comments."

—- any chance these two player’s perception was shaped in part by the fact that their fathers played in the MLB in the 70s?

So they just flashed that graphic showing the pitchers who gave up the most stolen bases over the year, and it had two White Sox pitchers on it, showing:

1. Most evidence shows that nearly all bases are stolen off of the catcher, not the pitcher, and this helps support that.

2. AJ Pierzynski SUCKS.

GRUMBLE

They hate fans because they refuse to allow live online streaming of these non-broadcast (cable is not broadcast media, broadcast is over the air) games. I mean, come on, it’s 2008, I have to be tied to a television and CABLE to watch an important game? It’s just the dough. Put commercials on the streams, I don’t care. Whatever. I fully expect in five years that MLB will ONLY have games on cable (a pure 1990s move for the 2010s) and I will have to shell out $70 a month for cable I have no intention or no desire to use other than baseball.
