Open Stupid Trade Thread
We've all seen the 10,000 threads proposing we stupidly trade Matt Cain, but I'd like to open it up - we have a LOT of players who can be involved in stupid trades, not just Cain. I have a few terrible ideas myself:
- Randy Winn for the rights to negotiate with Lou Pinella
The Rays did this just a few years ago, and now they have a shot at winning the World Series. YOU CAN'T ARGUE WITH RESULTS!
- Matt Cain for CECIL Fielder
Screw Prince. Cecil has more veteran savvy.
- Tim Lincecum for Armando Rios
Okay, so the Lincecum for Alex Rios trade didn't work out. We're all bummed about that, but it's time to move on. I have no doubt we could pull off a trade for Armando Rios - if we can figure out just where the hell he is nowadays.
- Pablo Sandoval for Corey Patterson
The Giants HAVE to acquire a mediocre veteran center fielder every year. I think it's in the union contract or something. This is a perfect way to make it happen. The one downside: why trade for Patterson when Endy Chavez is available on the free agent market?

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! One more!
Dusty Baker is manager of the Reds, right? And he loves to bring back former players. So, now that J.T. Snow has been brought back as a Giant, how about Snow for Jay Bruce?

Not me
I thought he was decent when I talked to him about posting his “Giants Lose” simulator predictions in gameday threads at the end of Giants losses because it was a jackass thing to do, and he actually did briefly stop. I thought he was decent then.
But then he started up again and just made a habit of posting those shitty things at exactly the times when they would theoretically hurt the most. And then I stopped feeling like he was worth defending and started feeling that he was worth making fun of.

I don’t have a baseball novel, but I DO have a science fiction world; I don’t write stories about it, but I have been working on a Wikipedia-style guide to it, and it has a baseball league, including a team called the Spikesonville Giants. Who have, naturally, won the most championships in the league’s history.

Don't worry
The San Jose team is a thinly disguised version of the Giants, rivals with a team from Las Vegas that strongly resembles the Dodgers, and the SJ closer is a hotter version of Robb Nen.
Of course, most of what I’ve written involves two dudes getting it on, one of them being said closer, but baseball is integral to the plot.
