Waikiki can't buy a win. The Beach Boys lost 12-3 to an undefeated West Oahu team. The CaneFires are on fire, scoring 30 runs in three games to begin the HWB season.
Waldis Joaquin saw his ERA jump from zero to 27.00 in a poor start where he allowed five runs to the CaneFires in 1 2/3 innings. Papelbon, younger brother of Boston closer Jonathan, was also lit up in one inning pitched. Papelbon allowed four runs in his inning of work. Kazunori Yamamoto of the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters Nippon Professional Baseball was the only Waikiki pitcher to escape unscathed. Yamamoto pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Todd Frazier provided the only runs for Waikiki. He turned on a pitch from Ryunosuke Yokoyama and hit an absolute bomb to left field to score two runs. Frazier drove home another run on a double.
West Oahu and Waikiki face one another again Wednesday. Waikiki had Monday off.

At least Kieschnick is doing a consistent thing with the hitting.

Update on Crawford..
I put this in the other winter lines thread, but Crawford said his ankle is almost fully healed and the Giants want to ship him to the Dominican League.
How often to American players go play in a league like that? I would have to think that would kind of suck.

It’s not unheard of. North American players go to the Caribbean leagues, if there’s room for them to play. I heard John Bowker is going to the Mexican League this winter.

Yeah but
he needs to learn English to make it to the bigs, where as someone like Crawford or Bowker don’t need to learn a new language to make it.

I’m pretty sure that you can hit HR’s without speaking English.

They should learn some Spanish. It’s good for the character.
Travis Denker can hit a little. That's why I drive his bus. Not much about baseball here .

What I meant was
that it’s good for someone like Angel to come to America and play now that way he doesn’t reach the bigs with out getting used to our culture. I feel bad for someone like Dice-K who got thrown into a new country with the added pressure of performing in Boston.

Through many decades the American has gone to play winter ball in the Caribbean. And about 71.456 came back safely.

anyone else upset that MLB does not televise these games? Throw a couple of minor league announcers in at least the AFL, and let us watch these kids. I know that Comcast Sports has a lot of facinating programming on 24/7, but Jebus.

I am very upset
And since I just got laid off, I suddenly have a crapload of free time! I could fill this time with winter league baseball, but noooooooooooooooo…..
