Munter off to Tampa Bay

From Rotoworld:

Rays signed RHP Scott Munter to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

The sinkerballing Munter could be a Shawn Camp-type middle reliever for the Rays, but he's going to need to pick up a few more strikeouts. The Giants non-tendered him last month.

I actually saw him strike a couple guys out in Fresno last year.

What a day for Giants' news.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
That's a shame we'll never get to face him.  I think a few guys in our lineup could probably handle his steady stream of belt high "sinkers."

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
Unless they immediately hire Felipe Alou as their new manager, Scott Munter won't make their team.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
I guess we can now hope that he somehow makes the team and weighs the Rays down so much that they finish worse than us...

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
Screw that, they always get the #1 pick.  If we are gonna suck, we may as well get #1

AFL selection to AL bottom feeder castoff. Great investment.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
yeah, why not invest in a pitcher going forward, instead of out the door?  The "last chance for Munter" was a silly decision, and one of the small things that drives me crazy.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
Scott Munter was/is/will always be, somebody's crack-addled bizzaro sinkerball reincarnation of the legendary, Sidd Finch.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
aren't we required to trade all of our players named Ray to the Rays?

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
In fact, all teams are supposed to do that. League policy.

Unfortunately, Selig isn't putting that policy into effect until 2009.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
A manager in my fantasy league one year decided she was going to construct Team Adverb, and draft Derrek Lee, Carlos Lee, Cliff Lee, and Travis Lee.  She wasn't able to accomplish this, and settled for the all-silly-name team.

She did not finish last.

Re: Munter off to Tampa Bay
One year in fantasy football my friend's dad drafted like six guys named Johnson. He thought it would be hilarious to name his team The Dangling Johnsons. And it was. When his wife came home at the tail end of our draft he proudly announced his team name and she rolled her eyes, then looked to me. I said, "what, it's funny!" I guess she thought since I was the only one at the table with two X chromosomes I could have saved her, but alas, I laugh at penis jokes as much as the next guy.

My team name was less funny. I had Deuce McAllister and Duce Staley so I named my team Deuces Wild.

I might have called them "Team Massengill".

...they're not Douches Wild. Unless those two are douchebags and I wasn't aware of it.
