Weekend Silliness

The random Giant/first concert thread is stuck in my head. It's pretty obvious that we need to vote on a winner, but I can't figure out what should separate the winner from the rest of the pack. Should the winner be the silliest combination, or should it be the coolest combination of great ex-Giant and music legend? I don't know, but I do know that I had a hell of a time whittling it down to ten choices.

The winner will receive a glowing sense of self-satisfaction and $1,000 in McCovey Bucks. Times are tight.

Vote in the poll that's located in the comments section.

I see Brent Mayne and JEW/Green Day/Blink 182 failed to make the cut.

But I bet it was close.

Re: Weekend Silliness
Had to go with Mays and Ross, as I suspect that if both had been in their respective primes nowadays instead of forty years ago, there would be internet rumors about them dating.
Didn't you used to be Barry Zito?

I enjoyed the really obscure Giants best.  The guy who saw the Beatles at the Stick can not be left off the list.

It's a shame no one put Tito Fuentes/Tito Puente.

all quiet on the western front.. its like sabean et al are still in the holiday mode instead of finding a true HOLLIDAY to celebrate... oh well..have we had a pure hitter drafted and or developed from within since wil clark?..bill mueller was the closest to one, and we let him go.. refresh my memory...

Scroll back up to the top. You'll see it. The poll is slightly higher than where the page loads you to.

I have no idea why.

Re: Weekend Silliness
I voted For Willie Mays and Diana Ross, because it's Willie Mays mostly. The Supremes would have been better than Diana Ross, but whatever. But how did the guy who's first show was the Beatles not make the poll - I mean really!

Because Grant is a notorious Randy Moffit-hater.

A Moffit insult shows up at least once a week, and if you're the first one to find it then you get 6,000 McCovey Bucks.  It's in the site's bylaws.

Ah Randy should get some kind of super ex-Giant bonus points for being Billie Jean King's brother, says I. (Not that I'm trying to plug a write-in candidacy for myself, or anything. I'm just sayin'...)

Re: Weekend Silliness
Randy Moffit just didn't have the cache of Atlee or Uribe -- the two players matched up with legends. If it were, oh, William Van Landingham, it probably would have flown.

Voted Lewis + Wu Tang, because 36 Chambers is one of the best hip-hop records EVER.

Yes sir it is.  I saw them at the Maritime Hall when I was in high school.  One of the best shows I've ever seen...kinda sucks because it's been pretty much all downhill since then, concert-wise.
Here's to Kemp, Loney, LaRoche, Hu, and Kershaw not panning out.

See Mos Def.  Double bill with him and Immortal Technique this summer was un-freakin-believable.

I've seen Mos Def a couple times -- always liked his shows.  Not huge on Immortal Technique.  Saw him for the first time at Rock the Bells in August.

Immortal Technique gets a little crazy sometimes, but he was great at the club with Mos Def.  It was packed: so much energy in such a small place.

I can't believe that neither "Mike Krukow and Pearl Jam" nor "Andres Gallarraga and Lene Lovich" made the nominations. The rampant corruption here makes Kenya look like Sweden by comparison.

Corruption aside for a moment.

I've always thought that when you close your eyes to a squint -- which you commonly must do in the drought-plagued wastes of central east Africa -- Kenya looks strikingly like Ethiopia.
