Who could they bring up? Lenn Sakata (San Jose) left the system over not getting a major league shot. Roberto Kelly (Augusta) was given said major league shot. Salem-Keizer's Steve Decker was promoted already to San Jose. All that's left of the actual management group is Bert Hunter, who I believe is most comfortable working out of Arizona anyway.
I don't know that guys like Ricky Ward, Jerry Cram, Ross Grimsley or Jim Bennett are ready for managing shots at High-A just yet, though Grimsley may have the creds. I'd like to see them get shots lower in the system first, like S-K or Augusta.

The staduim itself needs work; fresh paint, restroom floors, some seat repairs--stuff like that.
The owner isn't around much. The current GM Charlie Dowd has been around minor league baseball for a while and the front office staff was much improved last season.
In his heart of hearts, I'm sure the owner (Mets fan) would want a Mets farm team somewhere else.
The team is viewed pretty much as an afterthought to the general population around here ever since the Yankees left in 2002. The Giants have no real following in SE CT. The two year contract is up this year with the Giants and I hope they don't renew it. We (me and the 500 or so die hards who show up) haven't seen an above .500 team or a playoff game since 2003. I'm just ready for a fresh organization.

Re: Giants name their 2008 Double A manager...
The stats clearly show that the park totally skews the power number down significantly, which makes it very hard for any of our power prospects to come up to there and show what they can do without feeling like they have to change everything about their swing in order to hit for power again in AA.
When I e-mailed the GM about that, he suggested that the players run harder when the ball goes into the gap.
It also screws with our pitcher's development because they can throw any which way at the park since they don't have to fear giving up the long-ball as much. Thus they can make pitching mistakes and not have to worry as much as power is greatly dampened there, slowing their development.
Thanks for the info, nonetheless. I think the Giants will be gone after the contract ends, so I think you will get your wish. The Giants made it very clear that they wanted the fences moved in to make the park more normal and the owners hemmed and hawed, and the city wouldn't budge, so I take it as a very good sign that the Giants are leaving since they did not put up much of a fight over issues during the fall. They probably figured they would be gone after the next season, so why put much effort into getting change since the main change they wanted won't happen. Hope an NL West team moves there!
