Pickup softball/baseball games?

I'm assuming most people here live in the Bay Area so I was wondering if anyone here plays pickup baseball/softball games on the weekend or after work.  If so, can I play?  I've been dying to play an organized game for a couple years now and will play any position.  I will be Pedro Feliz but with situational hitting skillz.

I live in South SF if you didn't guess that already and will travel.  I know summer's over but I hope someone has some fall ball action going.  I am willing to pay and if there isn't an already organized game I might be willing to organize a weekly weekend game if there's enough interest.

Let's go outside and play!!

Or if anyone knows of any Fall Leagues I could enroll in I'd be interested in contact info.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
I play softball in Southern California, so I don't have a league for you.  That said, if you look online, most cities have their own leagues, and usually they make lists of individuals who want to play but dont have a team which is distributed to teams who need a player or two.  That was how I joined my first team.  Good luck.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
If you just want to pick up a game, most big parks have a waiting list or something for teams short players.  At Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale, you can almost always just show up and get into a game.  Long drive for you, but at least there are a bunch of fields and games start every 1:10 from 5:30 to 10:10

Cosign...
I'd like to play too - but I'm pretty terrible, so I think that kinda limits my chances with people I don't know.

Though I've only played hardball, not softball, so who knows...

Yeah, this is no help to you, rather saying, hey guys can I play too?

You're more than welcome to join my office beer-swilling (ha...big surprise there, eh?) Architects and Engineers league.  The commute is gonna be a bitch though.  Unless you like riding cows off into the sunset.

Oh Sacramento...how I love you.  Let me count the ways.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
I've been trying to organize a softball game between my insurance office and our staff counsel's office. My boss is a good hitter but would need a pinch runner as she has bad knees.

what say ye, Baron?
General sentiment at AN seems to be for a post-regular season date for the showdowns (I'm big on the home-and-home idea).

Care to put up a diary here to recruit your side of the mob?

Hey, they outnumber us like 500 to 1. All they have to do is bring in pinch hitter after pinch hitter and wear us down.

Re: Just like the Giants ...
I don't know, I was kind of expecting an animated .GIF that would comically imply the words "Your Mom!"... Maybe a T-shirt.

But I guess regular words are alright...

Re: that pounding's in your skull, Baron
Unlike the real Giants, we'd have a damn good 1st baseman on the squad.  Sign me up and pencil me in!!  I'm always down to rumble with some delusional Oakland fans.
I adopted Omar and have nothing good to say about this team. Footy season has kicked off, so I don't watch the Giants much anymore.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
I occasionally play on Sunday afternoons with my friends, but that sort of derailed after one of them fractured his ankle. I'm like Ichiro without the speed, defensive capabilities, and mass market appeal. I'm a lot cheaper though.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
I wish I was lying, but I play on a rec league team with Phil Nevin. Always thought he was an asshole until he covered our tab a couple times.

And yes, he still has warning track power.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
The best way I was able to find a game was to form a co-ed team from work. Companies normally enjoy seeing camaradarie from their employees and will even ante up the league fees. Find a league close to the shop so it will be easy for your teammates to practice and caravan to games. Good luck. Play Ball!!

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
have you tried the "activity partners" section of craig's list?

I know our soccer league posts there to recruit players, I'd guess softball / baseball leagues might do the same...

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
Been really busy at work the last couple days/nights so just got around to checking the thread.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  Is that game with AN really on?

Thanks for the invite PBB but Sac-town's a journey that I will only make if booty-call is involved.

Re: Pickup softball/baseball games?
I'm in for the game! I'm Pedro at 3B (well, minus the good arm) and Ichiro at bat (except I'm really slow). But I hit .750 in a low-level  league this summer. This would be great if it actually happened.
