Correia = the new Blownitez!?

It seems like every time he comes into a game late with the score tied or protecting a slim lead, Mr. Correia gives up the go ahead homer, or the critical walk or hit to help lose the game. He is now 1-6 and I would not be surprised if he gets to 10 losses this year. What is the record for most losses in a season by a late inning reliever? He has good stuff but ZERO command and is definitely a headcase. Can we PLEEEAAASE get rid of him get some draft picks or low level prospects? I cringe every time he comes in the game trying to hold the lead and usually bad things happen. He needs to go away along with all the oldies

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Yes, but is he Big enough to be the Whipping Boy for the whole team?
Davis: Originally a 38th round selection of Pittsburgh in 2001 out of the University of Connecticut-Avery Point.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
You can't trade for draft picks.

And yeah, that was a truly pathetic performance by Correia. I've been defending him all year, but after that, against the BOTTOM of the Nationals order and Tony friggin' Batista, I'm pretty pissed off.

Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
He'll never be Blownitez unless he starts blaming his teammates and fans for his own ineptitude.

That said, he really does have a knack for blowing games.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
he isn't paid enough for that. Mando was a huge FA signing and came in and pitched awful and ripped his teammates, the fans and announcers for his own ineptitude. That's a special kinda asshole. Correia isn't even in the same ballpark.
Congrats, Barry. You're the best there ever was in this game.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Correia is a talented young pitcher who might well still develop into an excellent asset for the team. Armando was an egotistical, over-the-hill cancer that could only continue to hurt the team. No comparison.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
What are you talking about?  Mando is still hurting the team!  Have your forgotten about the millions we're paying him to not be here?

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
I thank the Giants ownership every day for every dollar of that money.  Would you rather Boonitez cashed his checks at 6th & Market every week?  Let Miami have some economic stimulus.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
if he was cashing his checks @ 6th and Market, it's very possible he could be jumped by a gang of crazed crackheads and beaten within an inch of his life.

i wouldn't mind that at all.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
There's a lot of body mass there.

You can do a pretty thorough job by beating him within a foot of his life.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Seems like Sabean could have convinced someone that he was the next Accardo - two months ago. And I was saying that two months ago. Could've got a thirdbase or shortstop prospect. Oh, well...

Two months ago? Hell, we could have got Shea Hillenbrand (again)!

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Correia is over-worked.  He needs rest and a haircut.
If Brad Hennesy had Steve Kline's attitude you'd get Rob Nen... without the triple digit heat.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
I agree, its almost like if Bochy calls for Correia or Vinnie Choke, we are conceding the game.  At that point I turn the channel on the TV.

Last night at the game, when he came in, the group I was with got up from our seats and started walking around the park (which was suprisingly hard considering every Giants Dugout store was packed with people snatching up those "756: I was there" shirts.)  There was a slight groan from the crowd when he gave up the go-ahead run.

I agree he has excellent stuff, but watching him is painful.  Then again, this is what we get to watch for the next couple months.  Right now the Giants need to see what they got, like Rajai's gun that actually did nail that guy at the plate (even with Pedro's glove slowing it down)

Benitez: All Balk, no Bite.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Correia is just like most of the other guys.  A good relief pitcher when he starts the inning, terrible with inherited runners.  The only guy who can handle inherited runners, is Kline, and he was in the last 8 games.

I said this earlier in the year: Correia lacks focus.  He has the stuff, but he may never have the mindset needed to be really successful.

I need old crusty vets like I need a nail driven into my brain.

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
Its not the mindset and its not the focus, its the fact that he can't throw strikes when he wants to.  When he does, they have no movement and the ball ends up in the bleachers. The worst thing you can do in relief is give up a homerun and he's done it about 7 times this year.  Pathetic

Re: Correia = the new Blownitez!?
I'm going to say a fair amount of bad luck as well - every homer Correia gives up seems to be a big one but his overall numbers aren't so bad: 7.5 K/9, 4.5 BB/9, 1.1 HR/9. He needs to cut down on the walks, but he's still one of our better relievers and I'm not ready to judge him because of when three or four of his homers this season were given up.

I still haven't seen this "talent" that people keep saying Correia has. Unless you are talking about the "talent" of blowing games.
