Going to the game today!

Happy Tim Lincecum day!  Goin' to the game today, and hoping to be one of the first 20,000 to get the team card set.  I will, of course, be rockin' the McCovey Chronicles angel-quotation t-shirt (though sadly faded) in addition to my kick-ass last minute sign:

I'll be in section 115 and apparently the seats are way at the bottom, so there's a chance I'll be shown on every pitch.  If that ends up happening, I'll try not to embarass myself by picking my nose or being generally annoying.  I'm pretty pumped, it'll be the best seats I've ever sat in.

Re: Going to the game today!
Best seats I ever had were last year when I bought tickets at the double play replay site and wound up two rows behind Magowan. Pedro Feliz actually came thru and won that game for us. I'll be over in the 130's for today's game, and they can keep their baseball card set. The cheapskates can't give it to everyone?? I got the Bonds DVD on Friday and the retro alarm clock on Saturday. Whoopee!! Whatever happened to Bat Day??

Re: Going to the game today!
Awesome, "Tim the Enchanter" as a nickname has thus far lacked the mainstream attention it deserves. Keep on fighting the good fight.

Lincecum saw it, he didn't like it
Lincecum said: You can call me Tim, you can call me Franchise, you can call me Lince-K, you can call me Ace but never, ever call me the enchanter

I don't believe that he said we could call him Lince-K. He has better taste than that.

I still like Tim "The Tornado" Lincecum.
Bold Prediction: Klesko will finish the 2007 season with at least 20 HRs. (OPS+ is 129 as of 7/1/07)

Re: Going to the game today!
It's a great nickname because of what it's based on, but I would guess to a young guy like Tim it would sound kind of feminine.

When a guy can throw a 100 mph baseball at my head, I would hope that he doesn't need to worry about his femininity.

Re: how 'bout when he is batting?
Hmmm... maybe he does need a different nickname for when he's at the plate. Something MANLY, like "Tim the Nonchainsawable."

It's a work in progress...

McLovin SPOILERZ OMG
I was actually disappointed by it, humor wise. The stuff with McLovin and the two cops was the funniest stuff in the movie but it wasn't the non-stop laugh riot I expected. However it did get a lot deeper than I thought it would with the relationship between Evan and Seth, and the last half hour or so with the party and the end of the film really surprised me. It was emotionally truthful and the outcome of the boys actually taking a chance on something really spoke to me. I appreciated that neither got with either chick they were after but ended up getting together with the girls, and I think it's more rewarding for them to have it that way. It's just not the ending you'd see in this sort of film. It was refreshing.

I agree
Overall it wasn't the funniest thing I've ever seen, but I really liked the character interaction between Evan and Seth. The conflicts and in-jokes they shared were much more interesting than the random gag. That pretty much made the movie and kept it from being just another teen sex comedy.

Re: I agree
I read a review that said the movie was misogynist. I went into the film looking for cues that would back this up, and I didn't find any. There's the obvious target: the shot of Evan looking at the girl's boobs where the camera focuses right there on her rack, but come on, these are 17 and 18 year old boys. They look at boobs.

Evan spent the entire movie admonishing Seth for his approach to scoring with the girls. He was never really 100% into the idea anyway, as long as alcohol was involved. Seth himself was proven wrong in the end, too. I was sad for him, that he believed the only way he could get the girl was to get her drunk. I didn't see it as a sneaky dastardly trick, I saw it as him having incredibly low self esteem. Jules ended up truly liking him and wanting to be around him anyway, and the same thing happened with Evan and Becca. That's about the most pro-female message I've ever seen in a teen sex comedy.

I read that there was tons of hoyay in that movie. I read this in the New Yorker. T/f ... for our standards?

Re: McLovin SPOILERZ OMG
Yeah, that was exactly how I felt about it. It wasn't as riotously hilarious as I expected, but I really liked the character development and interactions, so it made up for it for me.

Re: McLovin SPOILERZ OMG
Both Knocked Up and Superbad were emotionally satisfying, very funny films. For me, Knocked Up was funnier and Superbad had more emotion redemption. I'm officially adding Judd Apatow to my "I'll see anything you make" pantheon of directors.
