Biased reporting - the Barry Bonds ceremony

Its incredible to see what passes as journalism these days. a writer with a preset viewpoint and then cherry-picking to justify his original opinion, regardless of how ridiculous it sounds.

No, Grant, I'm not talking about you.

Here is the SFChron's take on the Barry Bonds celebration today:

Thousands turn out to honor Bonds in S.F.

Barry Bonds had his day in the sun Friday as his family, teammates and thousands of fans turned out at San Francisco's Justin Herman Plaza to honor baseball's all-time home run leader.

And the national narrative, stubbornly insisting on seeing things one way and one way only?

Many keep away from Bonds's big celebration

San Francisco feted Major League Baseball's new home run king Barry Bonds with an outdoor ceremony on Friday, but attendance was surprisingly low on a beautiful day in the center of the business district.

Nevermind the one quote he got in his story was from a Florida tourist.  Do we need to look up the regular attendance at Marlins games again?

Idiot reporter.

The one on ESPN is just as bad
A couple lines about the ceremony, 95% about how some think his record is tainted.

Re: Biased reporting - the Barry Bonds ceremony
I, think they do these tributes/memorials [bill walsh] during the week on purpose.  Perhaps to avoid massive crowds and traffic jams, extra police etc etc...

I would have attended both the walsh memorial, and bonds' event today if they'd been held on the weekend.

Some of us have to work for a living, and if you don't live in the bay area you have to take the entire day off to attend.

Re: Biased reporting - the Barry Bonds ceremony
I was talking to some guy after the ceremony who said the entire crowd was there because the Giants' scheduled it on a weekday, and the people there were just workers who stumbled on the ceremony. I asked him why so many people wear Bonds' jerseys to work. Of course it turned out he was a Mets fan. Bonds' haters are always going to try to turn it around, and accuracy be damned. Screw all those people.

the national media covered BLB's march to greatness about as accurately as they did dubbya's search for weapons of mass destruction.

the local media did only slightly better.

you need a +10 machete of critical thinking these days to cut through the jungle of disinformation out there.

keep it sharp.
