Matt Cain left after 7 innings leading 3 to 1.
They eventually lost the game to Colorado and the subsequent games to the Rockies on Saturday and Sunday. Sad to say...it was, for the most part, all down hill after that.

In reality there were those on this site who predicted this team with as many of "over the hill" guys as we had, would be lucky to finish in 3rd place. I, the forever optimist, thought we had one more year given the fact Durham, Aurilia, Roberts had eye-opening stats the year before. I do hope when the roster expands we get to see the kids play most of the games.

I think our dover-the-hill guys would be slightly less over-the-hill if Lefebvre wasn't so inept at his job.

How do you know that Joe is inept at his job? He seems to have Barry Bonds' respect, and that can't be an easy thing to acquire from the game's best hitter of the past 15 years.

"The Kids" is a myth. There is very little help there. The only thing it represents is change for the sake of change. No improvement, nor even a high percentage chance of potential improvement that I, nor anyone really, can with certainty, predict. The old guys are even worse. Truly rock-hard-place for Giants fans. Just terrible and unfair. And unnecessary

I read Minor Lines most everyday, so I know the pickings are slim, but let's see if, at least, the kids at Fresno have anything before we make some decisions in the fall.

He'll be 27 next season, which is certainly young enough to still be improving his skills rather than watching them decline. Likewise Davis and Ortmeier.

At this point, change for the sake of change is fine with me. It certainly beats the alternative, no change for the sake of no change. I'm willing to go with the outside chance at improvement; at the very least, we'll see more hustle and fewer guys on the bench but unavailable due to sore backs and creaky hamstrings.
