All I am hearing for either of these guys is the personal milestones they still want to reach. Omar has made it clear that he just wants to be the starting shortstop and that going after a ring just doesn't matter that much to him anymore. Barry still gives lip service to a ring but seems to have accepted that it is not likely to happen. All Barry talks about is 2000 RBIs, 3000 hits, passing Ricky Henderson for the career runs scored record, passing Willie's career hit total, and 800 HRs. It is ok to have these goals but it is not ok when these goals are more important then winning.
These attitudes of these two leading Giants has infected the whole team. This is not that attitude we need leading the Giants in 2008. We need the vets we keep to care more about winning then about anything else. So, thanks for the memories Barry and Omar and good luck chasing your personal goals on anther team next year!
