Seattle/Balentien trade...
With the way that Weaver has been pitching, they are going to feel the pain for not trading for Lowry or any other SP. Considering that they have Jones and Balentien who are both ready to be promoted next year, and considering that they might only have one OF position open, it is very plausable that a trade can still be made. Maybe not in the next month, but in the offseason.
So if Lowry continues to improve, or at least doesn't shit his pants like Morris did, is anyone still up for a SF-Seattle honeymoon in the offseason?
I figure if we can do a deal with Seattle, then we won't need to overpay for an outfielder, and that gives us even more room to bring in A-Rod.

Moreover, they've got these two right-handed outfielders coming up at the same time, and a park that kills right-handed batters. Meanwhile, we've got all these left-handed outfielders and a park that kills lefties. I'd like to see something like Lowry and Lewis for Balentien and one of their third-base prospects (Tuiasasopo or Liddi) and an arm.
But this scheme is going to be ruined at some point during this season, because sooner or later Lowry is going to go through a wretched patch like the one Morris gave us over the last six weeks.

I predict this is the season it ends.
Incidentally, he has been HORRIBLE in September.

Re: Lowry's Success
I watched last night's game and couldn't believe the jams Lowry got out of. What did he have, one strikeout the whole night? Plus he nearly threw a wild pitch on an intentional walk. But hey, good for him. It's unlikely but hardly out of the realm of possibility that he could win 20 games this season, on a team that probably won't win much more than 75.

I felt the same way about Randy Messenger until his last couple of outings.

And say either Sanchez or Misch doesn't pan out...well we will likely still have Hennessey and Correia who can be stretched out relatively easily. And who knows where Begg and others will be next year.
Re: Seattle/Balentien trade...
As for replacements, if Jonathan's arm can take starting OK, he would indeed by my choice along with Sir Patrick. If not, I would put Kevin Correia back in the rotation where his propensity for untimely home runs wouldn't be as noticeable.
Re: Seattle/Balentien trade...
I think for Lowry I'd prefer a larger package. We all saw what the asking price was for Joe Blanton; I figure we can get at least two solid position prospects for Lowry, given that he's outpitching his peripherals and is winning games for a team that will lose 90.
Eventually, Lowry's numbers will come down to earth and he won't be benefiting from incredible luck. Lowry's value, I assume, is high.
Trading Noah
The question then becomes: Is Sanchez's value higher than Lowry's because of his prospect status? I don't know but I would be willing to bet that scouts and GMs would be more excited by a lanky hard throwing lefty than a soft tossing gamer.
Its time to cash in on Sanchez and showcasing him by placing him in the rotation would not be a bad move in my opinion.
