All rumored to be looking for starting pitching. Matt Morris seems a good fit on all sides. But, who can give us the best (while also realistic) offer?
Anduw Jones makes it known what he thinks the Braves should do. Most journalists and bloggers tend to agree with him. Braves fans seem to like the idea of Morris. They think Yunel Escobar would be too much to give up, but seem to be willing to part with Lillibridge, plus a little more. I like the idea of power hitting 1B Kala Kaaihue, who has been mentioned by Dr.B before.
Philly is looking for a non-rental starting pitcher. Morris isn't mentioned in this story, but he fits like a glove. Biggest problem: they dont have much in the way of prospects to offer. Carrasco, Bourn, Golson...who else do they have?
And of course Omar Minaya has said the Mets won't give up Milledge or Carlos Gomez for a rental either. I don't have a link to that quote, but have heard it a few places. Would Morris and Winn be enough for Gomez plus a couple bodies? Gomez is injured and wasn't quite ready for the bigs anyway. Winn gives them a LF in '08-09. Milledge takes over in RF in '08 with Alou/Green leaving via FA, and then they have yet another stud OF prospect in the wings to replace Winn.
Who says the All-Star break is boring? We'll all look back at the Giants firesale of '07 with fond memories. 2011 World Champions kind of has a ring to it.
