Home Run Ticker

Fred Lewis just needs 22 more grand slame to pass the great Lou Gehrig and become the all time leader. I for one am on tenterhooks.

Re: Home Run Ticker
The question isn't will he do it. The real question is will he do it this year.

Re: Home Run Ticker
God bless you Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenterhook

By the mid-eighteenth century the phrase "on tenterhooks" came into use to mean being in a state of uneasiness, anxiety, or suspense, stretched like the cloth on the tenter.

A long, long time ago
My impression is that we were just about all country, and very little nation.

But things changed.

Later, during the Osmond Century, we were a little bit country, and a little bit rock 'n roll.

Digression progression
WTF is...was...a tenter?
Whoops , just came up with my own answer to that...an attractive woman. One with great pins.

Every man's dream
I conclude from this discussion that a woman with great pins is a champion wrestler.

Re: Home Run Ticker
I think Lewis is currently 3rd on the Giants in both OBP and SLG. Trailing only Bonds and Klesko in both categories. I know that's not saying much with the Giants offense, but it does make an argument for keeping him in the lineup over Winn and Roberts.

Re: Home Run Ticker
Obvious sample size concerns with 99 abs. But it's not like his line of .273/.345/.444 is unrealistic. I guess my point was more along the lines of Lewis being one of the better options on a bad hitting team. Not necessarily that Lewis is going to be great.

I completely agree with you in every way.  Just trying to get some stat heads pissy with me.

Re: Home Run Ticker
Let's look at this logically. Two-thirds of Freddy Grand's HRs are salamis. Therefore, to reach 24 GS he has to hit 36 total HRs.

He's currently hitting a homer every 37 plate appearances, meaning he needs 1332 plate appearances to top Gehrig. Assuming he becomes a starter next year, that means that he breaks the record sometime in the first half of the 2010 season.
