And this time, nobody claimed him.

Not a surprise, they had all sorts of opportunity to play him (I have Cabrera, Willingham, and Hermida on my fantasy roster), and they always played someone else. They just wanted to acquire him for nothing, so they used the MLB spot on their roster to get him, hold him for a while, then send him down, viola, instant free prospect.

Well, be careful what you wish for.

I bet Todd will hit like .360 this time with great OBP and power, but will then suck again the next time he gets called up to the majors.

Well, kinda

Linden is out of options, so it's not like the Marlins can keep him around beyond the end of the year (unless they put him on the 25-man). So even if Linden was a prospect they haven't acquired any real time to develop him. What they've done is acquire outfield depth at AAA for the rest of the season. Which is still a good move.

This is the second time that Linden has been designated, so he can become a free agent if he wants. He can refuse the demotion. I don't know where else he would go though, so I think he will ultimately accept it.
