In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection

Does anyone know anything about this book, In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection? I've run across it and notice it is by two minor leaguers, Dave McKae and Nick Pereira, in the Giants' system. I thought it might give some insights into how the Giants develop pitchers. Any comments?

Re: In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection
Dave McKae may be close to actually finding pitching perfection.  I've seen him pitch, and considering the physical tools he has to work with, he's about as close to perfect as you can get.  He doesn't have the kind of stuff that you would ordinarily associate with a future major leaguer, but at this point, I wouldn't put it past him.  Each pitch is almost perfectly placed.  Speeds are changed and secondary pitches mixed in as close to randomly as a human can get so the hitter is never able to time the pitch.  Again, I'm not predicting major league success for Dave, but I wouldn't bet against it either.  If that doesn't work out, I could see him being a very successful pitching coach.  I'm going to look that book up and buy it!!

Re: In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection
Of COURSE Dave is smart about pitching.  Along with Randy Winn and Nate Schierholtz, Dave is a fellow alum of mine from San Ramon High.  :)

Re: In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection
I commented about the book a couple of days ago in one of the Minor Lines threads.  I picked up a copy of it last week after seeing it at the Giants Dugout store at ATT Park.

I think McKae and Pereira did a good job with it.  I don't think there is anything earth shattering in it, but it gets the point across that there is more to pitching success than just throwing hard.

It probably could have been priced a bit less,  but in this day and age, I don't think $15.00 is exorbitant.

Sayhey,

The books list a website with a link at the bottom of the page that you can use to contact the authors.

http://www.pitchingperfection.com/

Send them an e-mail an see what they say.  I'm sure they'll appreciate the inquiry.

Re: In Pursuit of Pitching Perfection
Dave LOVES to talk about the book.

The book is excellent for young pitchers, because it sets a great groundwork for stretching and working out, which is a key to staying healthy.  That is the most important thing it imparts.

I believe the copies sold at the San Jose clubhouse store are signed by Dave, (although maybe not anymore), but I don't know about the ones at AT&T Park.

I have no qualms about the price.  That's decent for a book with photo instructions.
