Ever since I got hooked on this site, I have only come across Giants bloggers wishing for tomorrow. No one seems to be interested in winning today. Even Mr. Brisbee, who from all I gather is a man of considerable baseball intelligence, continues to be thinking about winning the World Series in 2010 instead of 2007. Maybe this is why the Giants haven't won since they moved to San Francisco. Everyone around the Giants organization wants so badly to do well tomorrow that they don't want to do what it takes to win today. What can we do as the McCoven? Nothing really, except maybe change our attitudes.
I live in New York City. I am surrounded by J-Hole Yankee fans who don't know a hit and run from a Giant Sequoia. But what do they know? They know championships. Why? Because they expect them EVERY year. When Yankee fans go unfulfilled for 6 straight years they talk about firing one of the best Junior Circuit managers ever. They are irrational. They are baseball illiterate. And mostly, they are impatient idiots. But THEY WIN! More than any sports franchise, ever. Period.
The Yankees don't have shit for a farm system. They haven't since the 20's and 30's. Maybe the 50's, but that's debatable. They win because they always want to win, NOW!
Does anybody remember who the Giants traded for Joe Carter? What about Jeff Kent? Kirk Rueter? Roberto Hernandez? Countless other key acquisitions that Sabean made to make this organization a winner when it needed it most? I sure as hell don't remember (That's probably because I was doing math homework or something). Why are we talking about trading one of the most consistent starters in the National League, Matt Morris, for someone in the Tribe's farm system whose name I can't even pronounce? If you're going to trade Matt Morris, it better be for an OF with a potent bat, like Alexis Rios, Shawn Green, or Jason Bay, and there better be cash or a player-to-be-named-later invloved.
I'm sick of Sabean as much as any other Giants fan, because, well, look at this decrepit team. But Sabean gave us a taste of the Yankee Fan's lifestyle when he used to build the Giants to win NOW. Now, I'm asking the McCoven to follow suit. Let's rally around this shit-box team and let's win some ball games! Here we go. 10 in a row.
