10. Giants Jarrod Parker RHP Norwell HS, Ossian, Ind.
Parker is the best prep arm in the country when it comes to present stuff and command. His one weakness, a somewhat-straight fastball that lacks downhill plane, would be mitigated by a career in AT&T Park, slayer of home runs and all balls hit far and high.
22. Giants Aaron Poreda LHP San Francisco
The Giants and A's have been seen often at Poreda's outings, but that may be an accident of geography. The Giants have leaned college when they've had early picks, and given the state of their farm system and the success they just had with Tim Lincecum, they'll probably continue to do so.
29. Giants Wendell Fairley OF/RHP George County, Lucedale HS, Miss.
Fairley is one of the more interesting stories in the draft. He's a top-15 guy on raw ability as a hitter and is also a prospect as a pitcher (although he's more of a thrower right now), but he has a rough background and has had a litany of off-field issues, including a hazing incident on the team bus and a potentially more serious incident that's still under investigation. He's not Elijah Dukes, but in an era when the behavior of pro athletes is under a microscope, it's enough to push him down 10-15 spots or more to the Giants' pick here or at 32.
He expects the Giants to take Mattair with one of their sandwich picks.
