Hated Ex-Giants

I always found the boos directed at Kent interesting. Too be honest he was my favorite Giant when I was a kid, because a) he drove in runs and b) he was a decent guy when I met him. People hate him now (understandably) because he is a Dodger, but to be honest everyone hated him since the Truck/Motorcycle incident.

So I pose the question, my McCovey bretheren, who is your most hated ex-Giant? And this question is retroactive from this season, because we all know that Blownitez will be our most hated in only a few short months.

Without Victor Conte...
...there would be no Victor Frankenstein.

What , you thought I was a Horror fan?

I am. But it was a tribute to what Conte wrought.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
good choice. You really hate the guys who play well for everybody else, and then suck for the Giants. That is why I really hate AJ. Kent is a jerk, but when he was OUR jerk, he performed well. AJ was a .300 hitter with Minnesota, helped the White Sox win the World Series, and was a total bum with us. And of course the worst thing was the cost that we paid to get him.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
Ledee was so bad for the Giants I don't hate him that much. I was glad he was gone. It is almost worst when a player does well for us, then leaves on a bad note like Brett Butler who hugged Lasorda on returning to Candlestick for the first time.
I like Jose Cruz jr despite the drop ball at a key moment because he was so good defensively for us during the season. He also seemed like he wanted to be back with the Giants and has not bad mouthed the team or city since he left.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
Absolutely! You took the darkness right from my heart -- he makes all others seem tame, even LeMaster, Brantley & now Pete Happy.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
I'm talking Ledee. And, I've gotta say, as much as Kent is an a--h---, it was his bad-mouthing on departure that pissed me off. But I don't boo him: he was too good for us. Lately Kent has been saying nice things about the Giants -- go figure.

I Still Have Fond Memories of LeMaster
He was the scapegoat during a really bad era of Giants baseball mostly due to owner Stoneham mismanagement. LeMaster was slick fielding but could not hit and botched many an easy ball but all would have been forgotten with better teams around him.

Re: I Still Have Fond Memories of LeMaster
Nobody ever seems to get this one, Andy, but since you are from Fresno, perhaps you can.

Years ago I saw Johnny Lee make a great diving catch of a line drive in the hole while he was playing a preseason game at Casa Grande while wearing a Fresno Giants uniform.

The guy next to him playing third base would go on a year later to forge the rare combination of leading the Texas League both in fielding by a third baseman and in errors by a third baseman.  That third baseman was drafted the same year as Johnny Lee, but 12 rounds later.

The question is, who was that third baseman?  Hint:  He later lived in Blackhawk.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
A little different take on this.

The Ex-Giant I hate the most that he is an Ex-Giant is Joe Nathan.

Don't forget Livan Hernandez, who magically regained his pitching abilities with the Giants paying his salary in Montreal.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
Kent is irritating, but if his mother and father had never met the Giants would have had less success as a franchise.

If A.J. Pierzynski's parents had used contraception, the Giants would have won the World Series in 2004. I'm just sure of it. So my vote goes to Pierzynski.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
At least F.Rod had the decency to stink after he left the Giants. The best years of his career were in San Francisco. Of course, he can never be forgiven for Spiezio.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
Enos Cabbell, Bill Madlock, Bobby Murcer, Willie Montanez, Dave Kingman, and anyone else I can't remember who would piss and moan about playing at Candlestick. Sure, it was butt ugly and freezing cold, but those of us watching PAID for the privilege to sit in those conditions. They got to move around and make good money.
For just pennies a day, you too can make a difference in the life of a Giants player...like Kevin Correia.

Re: Hated Ex-Giants
I still like Jeff Kent, and I don't even own a motorcycle. I voted for (against?) Pierzynski, for the reasons stated above. Grant, as usual, has cut to the heart of the matter.

Brett Butler was so good for us, and then cozied up to Lasorda & the Dodgers so much it turned my stomach. Jeff Kent is just a professional hitter looking for a paycheck. He was a standup guy when JT got beaned in Spring Training that first year - I'll never forget that. Oh, and he hit pretty well for us, too.

Proud papa to Sergio Romo; and looking forward to adopting Josh Vitters!
