ESPN.com's Jayson Stark today writes about three teams in trouble -- the Nationals (duh), the Phillies and...the Giants.
Stark says the Giants three biggest problems are age (no everyday playe under 32), offense (e.g., .179/.259/.174 vs. LHP) and Zito (just 13 swings and misses in 186 pitches thus far). Not that any of this is news to any of us, but it's especially grim to see it all in print -- like the AL Scout who was quoted as saying "outside of a couple of pitchers, there's not much I like about the Giants."
Is Stark overreacting to a case of Small Sample Size Theatre? Are all of us doing the same thing? I keep telling myself they can't possibly be this bad over 162 games, but the above numbers (and more in the article) don't lie.
The good news is, we're not the Washington Nationals.
