The Giants as a team, are hitting .232/.289/.307.

The Giants have three starting pitchers with an ERA under 3.00, but have only won 1/3rd of the games those pitchers have started.

The Giants have hit two homeruns in 293 at-bats.

Of the 18 players who have come to bat for the Giants, only three of them have a slugging percentage over .400. Only one, Bengie Molina, has a slugging percentage above .450.

Over a period of nine games, the Giants have hit like the 1968 Mets in a 2007 baseball world. It's a fascinating experiment.

Dual comment starter: The Giants are not a good offensive team. Also, the greatest first song on a band's first album is "Runnin' With the Devil," by Van Halen. "Welcome to the Jungle," "Blister in the Sun," "Ol' 55," and "Bring da Ruckus" also received votes.

the only one?? Their entire first album was a classic. Kiss off, Gone Daddy Gone, Add It Up, and Prove my Love were all great songs. Everything they did AFTER the first album was crap though.

D'oh! I meant to say "Goog Times, Bad Times" but had a brain fart. I even looked it up because I new it was either "Good Times, Bad Times" or "Communication Breakdown" but wasn't sure which one.

As for Oingo Boingo, I 'll dispute your nitpick with my own since their self-titled EP preceeded the album "Only A Lad". The first track on the EP was, in fact, "Only A Lad".

I know I'm in a minority, but Dave Matthews is one of the few artists I can't even tolerate as background music.

I notice a pretty polar listener reaction to him, too. Not many middle of the roaders when it comes to liking him. Many if not most, obviously, love him. The rest hate him. Not many artists like that these days.

I really, really, really, really, really wish it was a much smaller minority. I'm going to a bachelor party weekend in Tahoe, and about 15% of the people are huge Dave heads. Unfortunately, they have the alpha personalities and will monopolize the stereo.

I was actually big into Dave Matthews before he blew up; he opened for Big Head Todd, and it snowballed from there. I also loved Blues Traveler, Allgood, Phish, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, Rusted Root....

Sonic Reducer is a great choice. Stiv Bators' next band, Lords of The New Church were pretty good too. Not surprised he died in a motorcycle crash. A rock and roll way to go.

Teen Angst by Cracker is a great choice.

I love the mention of My Generation Pt. 2 by Todd Snider, that guy is freakin' brilliant.

This is my first post here and I have a feeling I may take a beating for this one. My nomination would be Round Here by the Counting Crows, August And Everything After is one of the best albums ever made. It's also something you don't tell your friends you listen to.

Boy, aint' that the truth. That album was genuinely great. I was only about 14 when it came out, so I dont know if it was shameful at the time, but I don't remember it being lame. I dont tell a lot of people this, but it's in my top 100 all-time, slotted between Beulah and Haiku D'etat.

As and RBF fan speaking to anybody else who might be an RBF fan I don't care how disappointed you might have been by "Cheer Up," "We're Not Happy 'Till You're Not Happy" is as good as that band has ever been. Buy it.

Oh good lord, you're probably right. I have the first album on tape (remember the 99c tape bin at Reckless? Bliss!), but mostly I listen to the first CD of the singles comp.
