Fantasy advice concerning one of our very own Orangemen

In my draft, I got a little shafted with respect to closers, and I was only able to get Chris Ray (whom, when I saw he was on my team, I could not recall drafting), Brian Fuentes, and Joel Zumaya Yeah Yeahs. Now get this: Armandogeddon is still available. In light of his seeming resurgence, should I add Mando and cut Zumaya, since I'd be getting a surer number of saves (20+, to be conservative)? Or should I look at Zumaya as a longer-term investment, waiting for the inevitable day when Todd Jones gets a bacterial infection of some sort? Or should I cut someone on my bench (probably one of Ryan "George" Zimmerman, Ian Kinsler, or Barry "Legal" Bonds)? (Our league is 9 teams deep.)

Obviously, I meant Chris "Voodoo" Ray.

Keep Zumayaddayadda. I'd ditch Fuentes before Zoom if you want Mando.

Re: Fantasy advice
Depending on who your starting 2B is, I'd cut Kinsler and pick up Benitez. In a 9 team league, you're likely to find an adequate 2B on the waiver wire if you need it.

Plus, you gte the added bonus of being doubly pissed off when Blownitez coughs up a lead.

Re: Fantasy advice
Utley is my starting 2B.

I like the way you think.

Re: Fantasy advice
You have a top ten fantasy starter at 2B.  Good bye, Mr. Kinsler.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our very own
Don't get rid of Fuentes. He's in a much more stable save situation than Mando. Zumaya will definitely help you get K's and is worth holding onto. If you can pick up Mando by releasing someone else, like an extra catcher, you should.
We'd be pretty good if we didn't suck so bad.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
I definately wouldn't be realeasing one Barry Lamar Bonds.  Just who are your other 3 outfielders that you have him on your Bench?  Barry may actually be a 40 HR threat again this year and you will be sorry if you let him go.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
If Bonds hits 40 home runs, it'll be a miracle.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
Because 42/43-year-olds just don't do that. Especially when he's going to be seeing limited playing time, and assuming he's no longer taking anything illegal.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
The idea that everyone ages the same is just silly.  Look with you eyes.  Is Barry playing like a 42 soon to be 43 year old?  Barry got 493 Plate Appearances last year and he was hurting.  This year a healthy Bonds should be able to get 550 PAs and with 550 PAs 40 HRs is definately something that could happen.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
So Bonds is just going to continue to do what no other player in the history of American sports has been able to do?

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
He has so far. I can't really think of a reason why 40 is out of reach if Bonds stays healthy. He hit 7 in ST, which was how many games for him? More than 10?

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our own
Barry had 48 plate appearances which is at most 12 full games.  But, he was walked only twice and this low walk rate just will not continue in the regular season.

My other OFers are Swisher, Josh Willingham, and Sizemore. Apologies for the lack of nicknames.

Re: Fantasy advice concerning one of our very own
Just reiterating some of the other posts, but if you have Utley, cut Kinsler IF you feel you want Benitez for saves.  Ray and Fuentes are straight money in the closer department.  Zumaya won't get any closing opportunities any time soon.  His only value now is just to help you lower your ERA and get a few K's.  Drop Kinsler, keep Bonds (just in case he catches fire), and add Fatso.
