Stripping

After the Rowand deal, I had a genius idea for a comic strip. My artistic abilities are lacking, but I knew a great artist who I thought could help. He's on the site all the time, and you've probably seen his work. Unfortunately, he didn't have time.

Then I thought of another artist who's always on the site. I was a little embarrassed that I didn't think about him earlier. Unfortunately, he also declined.

As a last resort, I e-mailed the last person on my list. They couldn't do it. But they forwarded the e-mail to Natto. A comic strip was born.

Also, that "genius idea"? It, uh, isn't as funny as it was when I thought of it. And by "as funny", I mean "funny at all." Don't blame Natto.

I'm hoping that Natto makes this into a regular series, though. If you like the concept of a "Sabes & Baer" strip, harass Natto in the comments thread.

The debut of Sabes and Baer. It might be the only one, but it's certainly the only one I'll be involved with. So you have that going for you.

Thanks to Natto for not immediately deleting my e-mail and actually doing the danged thing.

Maybe you could also have him standing in front of people blocking their view.

(That's my Larry Baer pet peeve:  The Giants have the ushers make people wait between pitches before going to their seats, which is great.  But Larry is apparently too important to follow that rule and frequently stands up, walks around and talks to people during the action whilst at his seats to the right of the dugout.)

I'm I the only one that thinks the ushers holding people up makes it worse idea ever? A mob of twenty wait, and by the time they make it down to their seats a new  batter is back in the box, so instead of having a few people look for their seat I now have 20. I miss the first pitch to every batter.

Re: Stripping
If you ever stop doing that strip, I will tie you down and force feed you Dodger Dogs.

Re: Stripping
Yes, please do not stop stripping, you two.

We like it too much.

Only 972 games until the end of Zito's contract.

Re: Stripping
You should have talked to me last Wednesday re: stripping. I had, in my hands, $130 in singles.

Wait we're not talking about that kind of stripping are we?

Anyway great stuff from Natto as usual. Very shortly Brute and I are to be negotiating to get Natto on board with SF Dugout for a similar comic strip about baseball funny. Brian Sabean need not appear.

Democracy is lovely but baseball is more mature. BVCE supports Manny Burriss and SF Dugout.

Re: Stripping
Gah, figures Grant would beat us to the punch.

Hold onto those singles, Baron, we may need to outbid Grant...and Grant can't have THAT much to lure him with...

Awesome stuff, Natto, seriously.

Re: Stripping
You can have Sabean appear. He can be the last panel in every strip--as long as the panel depicts him getting stabbed by Norman Bates

Re: Stripping
After reading it again, I thought of another funny Sabean cartoon.  I just pictured a phone conversation between Brian Sabean and Scott Boras.  The conversation goes something like this:

Brian:  Hey Scott!  I wanted to talk to you about PLAYER X.  I got the OK from McGowan for 3yrs/24mil.

Boras:  Yeah, well the thing with that is... He's got an offer from another club for more years, but at $8mil per.

Brian:  Ok, well how does 4 years at $8mil per sound?

Boras:  <silence> (blank expression on face)

Brian:  Five years at 8!

Boras:  <silence> (blank expression)

Brian:  $10mil!!

Boras:  <silence>  (blank expression)

Brian:  $15mil!!!!

Boras:  Let me talk with PLAYER X and see if we can work something out.

<A few minutes pass with Boras tapping fingers on his desk or throwing darts at a dart board, never touching his phone>

Boras:  Hey Brian, Good news!  PLAYER X likes what you've offered and is willing to sign provided a "no trade clause."

Brian:  DONE!  <grins to himself, hangs up phone>  You still got it B-Man!

Re: Stripping
Wonderful job on the comic, and I truly hope we will be seeing more. It is up there with the "choose your own adventure" as the zenith of McCoven zeitgeist.

Also must concur that Brian Sabean's shirt deserves a nod for Supporting Actor.

Great stuff
I laughed until I stopped.
With the season over, I release my adoptee Brian Sabean. Good luck in the world, little buddy.

Re: Great stuff
I didn't. I kept laughing even after I stopped. I was practicing to be Bill Brasky. Speaking of which, Brasky is so tough that God had to set aside the 6th day to create Bill Brasky. On the Seventh day, instead of resting, God got waterboarded by Bill Brasky.

Well, I'm just calafragilistic.

- the joke works with anything super. It's hardly a rip-off of The Office. I doubt their writers were the first to ever think of deleting the "prefix"

If it's the 4th season, I haven't caught up yet.

If it's from seasons 1-3, then I blame George Harrison-like subconscious plagiarism.
