Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive

According to ESPN, Edgardo Alfonso has been signed to a Minor League contract by the Texas Rangers.

The Worldwide Leader In Sports

He apparently was able to escape the notice of George Mitchell, but no one can escape the wild spending ways of Rangers' owner Tom Hicks.

I guess I was wrong. Alfonzo didn't stop taking roids right before he got to the Giants. He just sucked!
Bonds stands alone.

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
all it means is that he didn't get his roids from Kirk Radomski. I think alot of fans are going to think that any player not on the Mitchell list is clean, and nothing could be further from the truth. Bud Selig would certainly love if we think that way though.
Bring me just about anyone, you moron Sabean!!

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
They could have been some of those roids F.P. Santangelo was taking.

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
There's a lot of speculation that Edgardo is actually a few years older than he claims to be, which would help explain his sudden drop-off.

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
There was also the back problem which supposedly sapped him of his power. There are certainly other reasons to explain why he suddenly stopped being an elite player. In fact I don't think he used steroids, because he actually started the slide in his last year with the Mets. He loved being in New York and was hoping to get a long term contract out of them. If he WAS using steroids, I doubt he would have stopped during his walk season.
Bring me a cleanup hitter please!!

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
Don't you mean, Edgardo Alfonzo has risen from the dead and signed with the Rangers?

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
Not necessarily.  Rising from the dead would imply he has some kind of other-worldly power.  Barely hanging on by a thread?  No so much.

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
He's going to put up solid numbers in that park and then Sabean will sign him to a 5-year contract to replace Kevin Frandsen, who will be coming off a decent year but won't be 30 yet, and thus is not to be trusted!

Actually it will be a 7 year contract for 126 million.

How do you hit only .266 in independent baseball and still get a sniff from the organized leagues?

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
He's outhitting Omar Vizquel by about 150 points in the Venzuelan winter league, and Omar just got a 5 million dollar deal. Oh yeah, I forgot. That was from Sabean.
Bring me a cleanup hitter please!!

Re: Hey, it turns out Edgardo is still alive
Steven Hawkings is hitting 150 points higher than Omar Vizquel.
