Grant has often commented that this site would not be where it is without us, the loyal readers - in much the same way that a leper would not be where he is without thousands of parasitic bacteria*. And so I have decided that the time has again come to give much-deserved kudos to those posters who have thrilled and delighted us all season long. The categories are posted below; I'll post what I consider to be the obvious nominees - please post who you think should also be nominated (possibly with a word or two as to why). Then we'll vote later. (Note: Grant is not eligible for some awards otherwise he'd just win everything)
And so, without further ado, here are the categories for the William Lee McCovey Awards for Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence - a.k.a. the McCoveys!!!
*his words, not mine.
And so we have the holdover categories.
Most Amusing Poster
Most Informative Poster
Best Image in a Gameday Thread
Best Image Not in a Gameday Thread
I welcome new categories, but they will only go to vote if they have enough decent nominations to make them worthwhile. I will not post obvious nominations in the body of this Diary, but I will make a few suggestions down below, most of them obvious.
Nominations DO NOT have to be seconded to be taken to vote, but it makes a difference if they are. Furthermore, an individual poster may veto any nomination of their person or property without question. You may nominate yourself, though it may result in a light ribbing by any of the local jokesters.
These are the ineligible nominees, for having taken home awards a full year ago:
Amusing Poster: kenshin1
Informative Poster: Steve S
Gameday Image: Dancing Mando
Non-Gameday Image: Jaunty Shelled Mando
Newcomer: North Side Chicago Expatriate Giants Fan
Spirit Award: Goofus
So without further ado, I'll start the thread. My category suggestions and personla nominations will be posted below, as should yours. When the thread has basically hit "dead" in the activity department, I'll review the data and begin the official awards process.
So nominate! And if you have reasons for the nominations, it might make it easier for me to break any ties.
