Re: Angels: Were close on Cabrerra
I have a feeling Cabrera won't be going anywhere at all.

Yeah
The Marlins will probably bring in established veterans to make one last run at a World Series.
Steve Kline: How okay is he, really? I would say he is pretty okay.

Re: Yeah
yeah. What's it been? 4 years since they purchased a title....they must be getting antsy down in Miami.
Bonds stands alone.

Cabrera is going to be dealt
Hang in there Brian because you will want to be there when the music stops. Hell, expand the deal and pick up Scott Olsen from the discount bargain bin on your way out.

Re: Cabrera is going to be dealt
The idea of Wilriv giving advice to Sabean... jeez, that actively scares me.
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.

Re: Angels: Were close on Cabrerra
I thought there was a typo in the title, and that it was supposed to be "Angels: We're close on Cabrera". At first, this depressed me slightly - I still have visions of a shrewd Giants deal for the slugger - then I was just glad it wasn't the Bums. Then I was amazed that the Halos had turned into such movers and shakers. Then I clicked on the link, which turned out to be something I saw yesterday. Ah, the gamut of emotions that is a rumourland posting.

Re: Angels: Were close on Cabrerra
The Dodgers are throwing the same names out there for Cabrera, Bedard, and Santana. What if all three teams say yes at the same time?? What's a Colletti to do?? Clone them??

MLB rules dictate simultaneous trades are arbitrated via ro sham bo.

Apopos of nothing.
I recently found out that in certain parts of the East Coast, "ro sham bo" refers to "kicking each other in the nuts until one of you gives up."

I'm not kidding.

"When Jackson Williams thinks of how many times Madison Bumgarner has tried to kill Tyler Walker..."

Re: Angels: Were close on Cabrerra
The Giants were also close to acquiring Cabrera with a package containing Lincecum, Cain, Villalona, Bumgarner and Bowker.  However, when Larry Beinfest requested that Scott Munter be added to the deal, Sabean balked.  Can't blame him.

A classic move he learned from his favorite player: Armando Benitez.
