All-Bounceback Team

I wanted to see what players are out there that might be worth taking a flier on. I ended up with most of a team. There's a plethora of players looking to bounce back from injuries/crappiness/both. And, of course, half of them are Giants that are signed for next year.

C Barret
1B Sexson
2B Durham
SS Vizquel
3B Rolen/Koskie/Ensberg
OF Roberts
OF Bradley
OF A. Jones

Bench: Reggie Sanders, Aurilia

SP:
Bartolo Colon
Matt Clement
Freddy Garcia
Ortiz

BP:
Byung-Hyun Kim
Eric Milton (actually not a SP but worth a try)
Fatmando

Non-roster invitee: Mike Sweeney

There are others out there. My favorite candidates to have a nice '08 for the Giants are Colon and Rolen - even if Rolen doesn't become his former self, he plays Gold-glove defense, and hits better than Feliz, even at his worst.

So, discussion starter: who's your favorite candidate to bounce back next year? What other comeback bargains do you think the Giants should go after?

Re: All-Bounceback Team
Rolen, Andruw Jones, Milton Bradley has always been good, just an asshole.  I think Barrett will be fantastic.

Also, i think johan santana will bounce back from being the best pitcher in the AL to being the best pitcher ever to pitch with his left hand and better than almost all of the ones to pitch their right.

Pedro Feliz: Marginally better this year.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
I'd be leery of Colon.  He has major shoulder problems.  I wouldn't be shocked if his career is essentially over.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
I wonder about Mike Sweeney... maybe grab him on a one year bounceback deal to mentor whatever 1B/3B prospect we trade with KC for....  A Sweeney/Gordon-or-Teahen-or-someone/Ort/Aurillia/Fransden 1B/3B plan?

Unless he's a big jerk... and a horrible mentor, then just get the young guy.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
He's reportedly a horrible first baseman.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
Maybe he could get hot in a platoon with Ort and we could spin him at the deadline. But even if he puts up his '06 OPS (787), I don't think anyone will want him, and I don't think with his injury history/ age that he'll become his former self. And his defense will mean he can probably only go to an American league team with a huge hole at DH. I think its a decent longshot worth an invite though!

Re: All-Bounceback Team
Carlos Delgado, maybe? I haven't heard him mentioned in trade rumors, but he was pretty bad last year, and it might make sense for the Mets to dump him and play Shawn Green at first.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
yeah, I think you meant to say play Mike Carp at first next year.

Re: All-Bounceback Team
Delgado makes 16 mil in '08, with another 16 mil option for '09 (4mil buyout). He wasn't terrible last year, but he was definitely overpaid, and he's going to be 36. For me, the Met's would have to eat a lot, and I think they'd rather take the chance that he has another solid year in him. His walk and home run totals took a dive, independent from his other stats. Dunno what that means.
