Steve Palazzolo
The Giants signed this 6'10", 265 lb pitcher from Nashua of the CanAm League, an indy league in the northeast:

His stat line for Nashua was 7-4, 2.14, 54.2 IP, 22 BB, 63 K as a setup man/middle reliever.
Apparently Steve has a great interest in pitching mechanics and has done some work with our friend at Baseball Think Factory:
Wow! There's some pretty impressive video in there!
That's not all. Steve made the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric back in 2006 because he was dabbling with the elusive gyroball:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/10/22/eveningnews/main2113218.shtml
I don't know what became of the gyroball, but it wasn't mentioned in the later Think Factory story.
I would guess Steve might start out in San Jose. If that's the case, I will make every effort to see him pitch when the team travels to SoCal. I suppose there is an outside chance they might keep him in the northeast and start him out all the way up at AA.
I supppose he's a longshot, but it's fun to fantasize about a 6'10", 265 lb setup man pitching for the Giants.

Re: Steve Palazzolo
Palazzolo may have dropped the "gyro" ball for health reasons, or for control reasons. The grip does look similar to a cut fastball/slider/curve. Personally, I love the two seam fastball. The movement with velocity makes it unpredictable. A friend of mine that is a youth pitching instructor says that it's tough to control and can put extra stress on the elbow and shoulder when thrown incorrectly. He may be longshot, but a shot I would be willing to take. Right now, he is pretty low risk, possible very high reward.

Fetish?
I tend to believe that once a pitcher gets above about 6'5", it's harder to get all the mechanics together. I've often said that I think the ideal height for a pitcher is 6'2"-6'5".
I tend to like things that are different. I like Adam Cowart because of his unique delivery. I'm fascinated to see how he turns out for better or worse. I like Sergio Romo a lot and he's not very tall. Pat Misch has always been one of my favorites and he's on the lower end of what I consider ideal height.
Most really tall pitchers tend to be thin and gangly. I worry about durability with them. One thing that fascinates me about Palazzolo is his bulk to go with his height. I mean, if the guy can actually pitch, what a dominating, intimidating presence he would be out there!
