Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)

Hilarious

"Barry Bonds has a public offer on the free-agent market -- from the independent Washington Wild Things, who play not far from where Bonds began his major league career in Pittsburgh.

Bonds, who made about $16 million last season for the Giants, would have to settle for the independent Frontier League's maximum salary of $1,200(!) per month."

And the best part: The Wild Things are offering "a pledge to find a host family for Bonds so he doesn't have to rent an apartment in this southwestern Pennsylvania city."

Sooo... You think he'll take it?

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
I doubt it.

But it's not like this team doesn't have options. I believe Ricky Henderson is still available.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
I doubt that the Wild Things have anyone in the cleanup spot that could offer Bonds decent lineup protection.  With that in mind, I think that he'll turn them down.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
Or maybe that'll remind him of the Giants, who he wanted to play for, and it'll be a point in their favor.
Steve Kline: How okay is he, really? I would say he is pretty okay.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
I don't know man...This guy hit six (!) home runs last year.

also, according to their official site, he was tied for third in triples among professional players in 2006, behind Jose Reyes and our own Velez. This calls for a Velez diary.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
The only way Barry takes that offer is if the host family are the Kardashians.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
Geez, this gimmick has already been used once this offseason. I guess you don't really attract the best and brightest to the PR department of an indy club...

The day that Barry wore his Giants suit
and made mischief of one kind
and another
until MacGowan told him "Be still!"
and sent him to bed without any contract.

Re: Bonds Gets An Offer (kind of..)
You prose is nice, but I think a send-up of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" might be more fun.
