Boras was a Giants fan

The New Yorker is running an excellent piece on Scott Boras, which is available here:

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/10/29/071029fa_fact_mcgrath

Quick quote:

"He grew up ... near Elk Grove, California, about fifteen miles from Sacramento. ... As a boy, driving a tractor, Scott listened to San Francisco Giants games called by Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons on KSFO ..."

He's also a fan of money.
Bonds stands alone.

Re: Boras was a Giants fan
The words "Sacramento" and "tractor" in immediate vicinity...the only thing missing is a "meth-house" reference and we'd have the holy trifecta, folks!
Screw the Giants, but not Omar. I'm getting drunk and watching some footy.

this makes my heart sad.
you will suffer humiliation when the sports team from my area defeats the sports team from your area

Re: Boras was a Giants fan
a retroactive Zito discount would be a sweet cure for that, it should go without saying

Re: Boras was a Giants fan
Everthing i have ever heard about him personaly is that he is a good guy my mom worked with him as a pharmacist at Sutter General in Sac(I think that was the hospital). That said he has not given the giants any home town discount.

Re: Boras was a Giants fan
His job is to get the best possible deals that his clients want and he does his job well.  It's what he's supposed to do.

Still, if you were to look back at all the contracts teams have signed his players to, you wouldn't find many cases where the buyers were happy.

So unless teams just refuse to sign the players he represents he will continue pitting one against another, just like a good agent should.

Zealously advocating for Nate the Great since 2007.

Re: Boras was a Giants fan
Yeah, he owes it to his clients to treat the Giants just like any other team, and who even knows if he still likes them now. Didn't Barry Bonds actually fire Boras a few years ago?? Maybe he's not such a big fan anymore. On the other hand, maybe he's bitter about Barry and would like nothing better than to see the Giants win now that Barry's gone.

Jesus...didn't Jerry Maguire teach you anything
I'm sick of this, "He's just doing his job" bullshit.  A pimp holds down a job too, but that doesn't make any of it right.

You're telling me you'd rather have this kind of guy

over this kind of guy?

P.S. Pay no attention to the wacko Scientology slant and Mr. Mapother IV.

Re: Cruise-in for a bruisin
I notice Tom Cruise was long gone the other night on Leno before the Sex Pistols came out. Why am I not surprised??

It's not surprising
Everyone knows Tom Cruise is a big Sid Vicious fan.
Steve Kline: How okay is he, really? I would say he is pretty okay.

Don't insinuate anything between Sid and Tom Cruise. He'll sue you.

So God is a Yankee fan & the devil is a Giants fan.  Tell me something I don't know.
