Nice! And the comments make it appear that Tim Alderson would have been on the list as well had he gotten an earlier start.

Best season premiere? My vote goes to The Office!

I don't watch any TV outside of that, so it wins by default. OK, I watch Heroes too, but The Office beats it there.

I wonder if he is Claire's great-great-great-great grandfather.  Or if he is 340+ years old maybe he still has fish in the tank and is more closely related.  It can't be a coincidence that they have the same power.

Re: Top 20 - AZL
That's what I'm wondering too. Also once Hiro traveled back in time, I had a feeling that he would actually become Kensei, effectively becoming his own hero, but the last episode threw a new wrinkle into that theory.

Re: Top 20 - AZL
Kensei will get all power hungry now that he has discovered his power and it will be up to Hiro to put him on the right path.  I have a feeling they will battle it out eventually.

I wonder if Kensei already knew that he had some kind of ability before the arrows to the chest or else why did he pick the "Godsend" symbol?

This season has already got me pretty hooked.  I was skeptical because I really wasn't sure what direction the show would go after last season, but I've been pretty pleased so far.  Except for the BS amnesia crap they gave Peter.  I hate amnesia.

I'm not a fan of amnesia too. It's a weak plot device, although I guess it's a common comic book one..

Those are the only two shows I watch too!

Both had good season premieres, but I'll definitely give the edge to The Office.

I also watch House MD because I'm a HughLauriephile. But that's it! Other than Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. But nothing after that. I think.

I'm taking a break from House until I hear reports that it's not as bad as it was last season. I hated last season so much... :(

Spoilers like whoa here
Of season premieres of returning shows I watch, My Name is Earl was the best IMO. It was a return to The List and more Joy awesomeness which is the best I can ask of the show. Earl going to jail wasn't depicted as a martyr, as it could have easily gone. Joy has guilt for letting him take the fall so she promises to take care of Randy while Earl is in jail, and she sets him straight quickly whereas Earl just let Randy be a co-dependent mess. While Earl helps people, he ensures his survival in prison. Through helping a guy he severely wronged he gets to know his fellow prisoners and when the guy gets out on parole the other prisoners are very relieved. The guy was a huge pain who made life crappy for everyone there.

All this awesome emotional and dramatic depth on top of the ridiculous white trash humor from the first two seasons. A+. This show has the balance of hilarity and heart that I haven't seen since the first two seasons of Scrubs.

The Office had a hard act to follow after Earl. The first half hour of the episode was sort of lackluster but it picked up big time after Pam let the cat out of the bag about her and Jim. I got so sick of the JAM saga last season but deep down I'm still on that 'ship, and their hand holding and secret card ride kiss was just the best ever. Just don't screw around with them anymore, Office writers. I suffered through Ross and Rachel for eight G-D seasons on Friends, and I'm going into the final season of Scrubs in a few weeks with another possible JD/Elliot hookup that will end in a disaster and ruin an impending marriage. No. Stop it. Just send Kim away and let Keith and Elliot get married.

Re: Spoilers like whoa here
I'm surprised Karen was just up and gone so quickly. Spoiler boards I read over the summer indicated that Karen would stick around for a few episodes. It would have been some fun dramarama to watch the new and improved Pam mix it up with Karen over Jim. I know Rashida Jones has some other TV work this fall, but I thought she was going to work a few Office episodes into her schedule.

Re: Spoilers like whoa here
I don't think that's originally how it was gonna happen - in the online "How'd you spend your summer?" interview extras, they have one from Karen, so I think she was originally going to stick around, but then probably the actress wanted to leave.

That's just a guess.  It's not based on anything.

Steve Kline: Pretty okay, but only on a whole season basis and not based on what he's doing now.

Re: Spoilers like whoa here
Benihana Christmas was awesome and them with the rival party planning committee was my favorite part of the episode. It's really too bad they can't be friends, but I can't see them as being friends with each lady's ties to Jim.

Now that you mention it, I did see the Earl premiere. I like that show. Jason Lee is teh charisma. The show never makes me laugh very hard, but the intelligence and depth that it crams into a half hour of honest entertainment keep me wanting to come back.

The permiere was extremely well written. It's the kind of show I could learn a thing or two about craft from.

Re: Spoilers like whoa here
The show consistently suprises me by balancing dumb humor with true heart and emotional depth. The season premiere had the stuff that got me into the show. The episode that got me hooked on the show was the season 2 episode where Earl befriends the circus freaks. His honest friendship with them was really sweet when he tried to get them to go for ice cream, and it was nice to watch him encouraging them to venture outside their little community by jumping off the high dive shirtless--something that had embarassed him since he was a little kid. He sacrificed his own insecurity to encourage his new friends to get outside and live.

I just love the show so much. I LOL at nearly every episode, plus it gives me warm and fuzzies. The writing is superb. It is truly a well done program.

Tonight's episode just finished and I thought it blew the premiere out of the water. Awesome.

I usually don't like to get taken in by a series of gay jokes, but I was all over this one for some reason.

Re: Top 20 - AZL
I only saw one premiere, and it was Chuck.

By default, that gets my vote on the merits of the Vicki Vale joke and Adam Baldwin alone. And also, because it's a bit of a one horse race...

Re: Top 20 - AZL
Chuck is great. I missed this week due to the playoff game Monday but I'll catch up on it before next Monday. I absolutely died laughing when Chuck disarmed the bomb by going to the porn site on the laptop. I'd date Chuck. He's like a cuter version of Seth Cohen from the OC, and much less annoying.

Captain Awesome is a funny name, but the guy looks like a Grade A douchebag.

And the show has Adam Baldwin who is made of win, plus the hot girl is in her underwear twice in the first hour of the series. What's not to like?

Re: Top 20 - AZL
I don't know why, because it's a really cheap and easy joke, and the kind of joke I usually don't bother with, but every time the guy said the word awesome I chuckled (pun intended).

Re: Top 20 - AZL
When baseball season ends, I re-introduce myself to my wife, and we finally watch some TV together instead of in separate rooms. We always watch Shark, Dexter, Rescue Me and House together, and when she's off watching some Spanish novella I like Boston Legal, 30 Rock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Two and a Half men, and some other dumb comedies. We also like to watch Deal or No Deal, although I'm usually working the nights that it's on. The show actually rots, but I like it when the greedy bastards turn down 200K and wind up going home with 25 bucks!!
