soooo Cory Koskie

is okay?

Is Canadian?

he could provide some sweet walking skills at the 3B position.

1 year for 4 mil?

there's always Russell Branyan . . .

Branyan and Feliz
in an offense defense platoon, maybe? When Feliz is in, give Branyan some playing time at 1st.

Is Koskie actually healthy?

Re: Branyan and Feliz
Even if he is, why should anyone expect him to stay that way?

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
Does that guy have a beard?  We already have a bearded, under-achieving 3rd baseman.  If we sign him, the beard has to go so we can more easily discern whom we are cursing at.
If Brad Hennesy had Steve Kline's attitude you'd get Rob Nen... without the triple digit heat.

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
The guy didn't play last year with a Matheny like concussion and therefore may likewise never play again.  Anything other then a minor league contract would be just flat ass stupid!

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
did you just not read the article and decide to skip all rational thought?

glad to have you back, though.

And in re: Milestrane: Koskie has a far superior beard and is not so horrendously awful at the plate as Pedro FeliZ

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
I read the article.  The fact that he now thinks he is healthy doesn't change the fact that he has missed the last year and a half becuase of a concussion and is very suspeptable to a relapse or reoccurance.  Again, he is only worth a minor league contract until he proves he is healthy and can stay healthy (not just claims he is healthy).

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
I just can't understand how anybody suffering post-concussion symptoms for over a year, and presumably well educated on the dangers of concussions, would even think about getting back in the game.

I mean, no matter how you cut it baseball is not worth risking your life for. Even if that risk is low, how is it possibly worth taking? The year and a half of grogginess and forgetting family members names and faces didn't scare him enough?

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
it was a lot less severe than that.  apparently recurring headaches was the most severe symptom.

I really think he's okay; like you said, there would be no reason for anyone suffering that much to get back in.

I'm just saying he would be much more enjoyable to watch at the plate than happy pete.

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
Well that's certainly more reasonable, though any injury that has a long-term negative effect on my brain in any way would pretty scare me out of putting myself in any position to reaggravate it...

But then, I like my brain.

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
I dunno, if you were that good at playing baseball and you loved it as much as you probably do, wouldn't you still want to play?

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
It's a tough call if I was putting myself in somebody else's shoes, but there are two kinds of personal injury that I have some serious legitimate phobias about. One is brain injury. The other is electrocution.

So I'd be willing to bet that I would be sufficiently scared out of competitive play. If I were somebody else... I have no idea. None at all.

Re: soooo Cory Koskie
I've always had this abnormal passion for playing baseball and I just assume that everyone else that plays shares it.  I probably won't be able to play other than club in college, (think Bengie slow, then divide by two) but i'm probably going to need a restraining order to get me away from practice.

Injury phobias . . . getting disemboweled and actually anything around my neck.  I broke my sisters nose because she snuck up behind me and grabbed me by the neck.  I'm kinda weird like that.

I've already had two concussions, so that whole brain injury thing doesn't scare me as much as it probably should.
