The primary reason the Rockies are in the World Series is that they got hot at the right time.

To their credit, they DID have the best run differential of any of the NL West teams.

Exactly. That went pretty well unnoticed, but the Rockies were better than their record indicated for quite some time. It was no surprise to me to see Colorado sweep away the D-Backs.

The Rockies are in the WS because they had a long run of high draft picks that they've used to quietly build a monster roster and they're not done yet. This is no fluke and they could be the dominant power in the division if not the whole NL for a long time.

I second DrB's comments. Troy Tulowitzki and Hanley Ramirez will be competing for the NL All-Star SS position for several years to come (until Hanley gets moved to RF or 3B). Colorado has really improved itself by the draft - and yes, they sucked long enough and bad enough to get some high draft picks. If Ubaldo Jimenez is as good as advertised, the Rockies should be the favorites next year in the NL West. Assuming Operation Blue Crush...er...assuming Ned Colletti is still the GM in LaLaLand.

The SF Giants: agressively promoting young talent since 2008.

Renel was guest of honor at the grand opening of Mrs. Goofus' business and could not have been cooler person.

As a PA announcer, I think she's great. She speaks clearly and balances the fine line between being enthusiastic and a "homer" perfectly.

Unlike Sherry Davis, she brings personality to the job.

Like Howie said, Renel haters can suck it.

I hear the Rockies are in the World Series because of their belief in Dog. Since there is no article before "Dog" I assume it is to be taken as a proper name, perhaps referring to the bounty hunter personality on cable TV. I don't quite get the connection. It's possible I've transposed some letters too.
