Eat your heart out

We could have had him, I believe.

What actually spurred me to link the article was this post.

Re: Eat your heart out
ohhhh mann i know!

that woulda been so much better.  why don't more managers know what they're doing?

p.s. joe girardi is a retard that should definitely take the yankees job (i'll be ROFL-copter for days)

Pedro Feliz: Marginally better this year.

Holy moly! He reads BP! He knows when to bunt! I had no idea an active major league manager had this much of a clue.

I love everything I've heard about Manny Acta and I can't believe we hired Bochy over him. :(

Re: Eat your heart out
Acta also covers the big head quota the Giants were trying to fill for their managerial position.

In all honesty, what Acta did with the Nats band of no-talent ass clowns was pretty impressive this year.

Re: Eat your heart out
Yeah, and I was for Acta, all the way.  What did I get for it?  The "oh, he has not experience" comments from people around baseball blogs.

Re: Eat your heart out
I, too, was hoping for Manny Acta instead of Mr. Bochy.

Re: Eat your heart out
If I remember correctly, Acta and Brenly (Brenly, is that right?) were far and away the popular choices around here with Bochy getting a pretty resounding "Meh..."

Bud Black, maybe?
Steve Kline: How okay is he, really? I would say he is pretty okay.

Re: Me
That sounds very familiar. I can go with that. It's those B names. They all mush together. Kind of.

Re: Me
Black, Bell, Bochy, Brenly, eventually they're all just one name in my head. It was one of those guys, fersher.

Re: Eat your heart out
BEFORE hiring of a new manager prior to the 2007 season SF organization had to ask and answer this question:

Will the new SF manager be able to handle Barry Bonds?

by wilriv21 on Oct 11, 2007 12:48 PM PDT up reply actions

Here's one of my posts:
This isn't about sabermetrics or your slight about "computers" or "stats."  This is about a new direction, a future, and (for me at least) Bochy doesn't represent either of these points.  He's the "safe" pick, he's the boring pick, he's the uninspired pick.  Color me as you wish, but I WANT to take a risk on an Acta or a Black.   How the hell am I as a Giants fan supposed to be excited about Bruce Bochy?

Re: Bochy and Giants to talk?
Yep, Bochy is way too much like Dusty. I'm perfectly willing to give Wotus a chance, but somewhere in the back of my mind, I hear this small voice saying: "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to introduce the Giants' new manager for 2007, Manny Acta."

Remember, you heard it here first.

Re: Eat your heart out
Acta wasn't a retread who knows how to handle a veteran (WWII, apparently) clubhouse.
Bonds stands alone.

Re: Eat your heart out
Manny was my personal choice for Giants manager.  It gets to be a bit frustrating to usually make better decisions than the general manager of your favorite team.
