And one of the most prominent rumors is that Maddux could be sent to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees, Red Sox, Giants and Padres are also thought to be interested in Maddux.
I hope to hell not, I hope to hell that this is one of those stupid idle sports columnist musings made up while sitting around and shooting the breeze.
Why would the Giants trade for him now? The only starter he would replace is Morris and Morris isn't going anywhere. Wright has been one of our best starters and Schmidt is Schmidtastic lately. That leaves Lowry and Cain. Lowry actually hasn't been pitching that well either but with his new contract and everything, I don't see him going down. That leaves Cain, but he has had some good starts recently after being lost.
If he continues pitching as badly as he has the last month (he has had a totally Jeckyll and Hyde season, everything went perfectly in April, everything went to hell in May), I hope the Dodgers get him. But since he might start pitching well at some point, I hope either the Yanks or Red Sox get him, get him out of our division.
Bad enough that the Marlins might trade Willis to Arizona, can you imagine their rotation with Webb and Willis? Scares the living daylights out of me!
Scary, but I thought I would share, just in case.
Who do you want getting Maddux?
