Off-Topic: Guerneville/Russian River

I love baseball but I also love drinking beerz and floating on inner tubes.

I'll be joining some friends up near Guerneville for the Fourth this weekend and we have heard scintillating rumors of hot Russian River tubing action.

Have any fellow McChroniclers been up there? Any idea where to rent tubes?

I live down here in L.A. (boo) so I need all the pointers I can get.

It's been almost 25 years since I did this, but it used to be that Bob Trowbridge was the company that ran most or all of the Russian River canoe/tube business. Out of Healdsburg, I think, if you want to float down toward Guerneville. We used to just drive up north of Healdsburg when I was in high school, put in wherever we could find a place and float down to Healdsburg. Much less traffic as I recall.

Also, you can just go to Johnson's Beach in Guerneville or Monte Rio beach and you can rent stuff there.

Here's what you do: Drive up Highway 50 toward Tahoe, stop at Kyburz, and roll your tube up the hill there til you find a pristine little river.

Get in.

Disregard any sounds of roaring water or signs that say "HorseTail Falls Ahead."
