Adam Cowart

Hey, new user here, I post mostly over at Lone Star Ball (and for the record, I'm glad to see that MLB doesn't discriminate against the sight-impaired in hiring umpires), but after I saw an article on MiLB.com about Adam Cowart pitching 5.1 perfect innings for Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, I'm just wondering if anyone's actually seen him pitch yet, and if he still has that wacky delivery he's got. I saw him pitch against Texas Tech earlier this year, and his delivery was just plain wacky - he spreads his legs out, squats down a bit and slings the pitch towards the plate from a sidearm/submarine angle. It's like nothing else I've ever really seen, and I hope he makes it to the majors simply because it's just so interesting. His stuff apparently isn't all that great (which is why he was a 35th round pick, obviously), but hey, if he can stick in the majors (likely as a ROOGY given the delivery, I'm sure), I'm going to make sure to keep an an eye on him, unless his delivery's been reworked since turning pro, which takes all the fun out of it, now doesn't it?

Re: Adam Cowart
There's a picure of him, mid-delivery, in the Salem Statesman Journal. It looks like the funkiness is still there.

And welcome to MCC. It's customary for new posters to send a check to Grant Brisbee, our revered moderator. He also accepts cash.

Waiting for Travis, Nate, Marcus, and Nick P.

Re: Adam Cowart
I wrote a blurb on Cowart for SFDugout.com's draft notebook and was pretty impressed with his K State career. Hope springs eternal with the draftees for me. I'm trying to make plans to go up to Salem over Labor Day weekend to see our guys up there.

Re: Adam Cowart
hey! adam is actually one of my best friends. I have seen him play baseball since little league and he has been the best on every team he has played for since. If you look at each team he has played for you will see he has been the team leader for each. Even in high school when he was throwing over hand he still was there go-to guy. His stuff might not be the best around, but he knows how to pitch and win. I'm sure you will be hearing more about him in years to come..
