Home Opener Thread, 4/6

I'm going to the game, one of the reasons for the short post below. I'll be the one wearing a McCovey Chronicles shirt buried under other, warmer layers. Say hello if you see a guy wearing a non-McCovey Chronicles sweatshirt. It could be me.

The threads should be fixed, so that 200 comments won't make smoke come out of the site.

I'm sitting in the upper deck, near the right field foul pole, so I hope someone will let me know how the game went when I come back.

Good news, we're only a game out of the NL Wild Card lead.  This might be a must-win, but we won't know until September.

Naw, we already know, it's only a must-win if Grant deems it so in the thread.

I seriously contemplated skipping work to watch the game today, but my apartment building has picked today of all days to turn off the water from 9-5.

In an irony that's more sad than ironic I'll probably end up staying late at work to listen to the game since it starts at 4:35 for us east coasters.

Anyway, thanks to Grant, whenever I'm thinking about the Giants I can't get scenes from "Max-on-Max" out of my head -- I need a way to wash the images away.

and Jorge Sosa has got to exhibit 1b of the Braves deal with the devil. The guy goes from being a really marginal spot starter/reliever to an ace starter with an ERA of 2.55 . I don't know how many lambs were slaughtered at the altar for that, but c'mon! Have a freaking heart Schuerholz!

Dear Sr. Rojas,
Please, please stop with the Jeff Fassero as a long reliever and spot starter strategy. He isn't good. I know, I know, he was good when you started managing, but that was a different millenium. Now, if you must have him on the team, please relegate him to lefties only. Let Valdez, Correia or Hennessey learn in long relief. Ok, sure, this means that Steve Kline's worthless self must be cut and that makes BS look a little more foolish. Deal with it.

  3. My favorite player in all of baseball who also happens to be one of the keys to the Giants season just got injured.  Posting on the board that his injury represented cosmic justice is clearly in poor taste
That said, I wish I had not banned him and I certainly would not do so again.

From Rotoworld:

Lowry grabbed his right side after delivering a pitch and was unable to continue following a warmup toss. A DL stint could be a possibility and would likely result in Brad Hennessey being placed into the rotation.

It's inspiring that dead people can still hit Tim Worrell.

I worry because I'm a Giants fan...
Bonds since elbow issues flared up March 23:

3-for-17, with two singles and one tainted ground-rule double.

That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more!

If the Giants were still in New York...
The back page of The Post would read "Lowry's Season Salted."
