Is it to early to ask.....

Last year around this time I advocated that it was time for the Giants to hold a fire sale.  Eugene corrected me and advocated for a value-added restructuring.

My question is: Is it too early to advocate for a value-added restructuring?

As I said last year, this team will likely remain competitive this year and could even qualify for the playoffs, but at what cost.  If we trade now or in June we can get some decent prospects.  Get value out of Schmidt, Alou, Durham (if any), Sweeney, Vizquel, Finley, Feliz, even Bonds if we can.

I would rather be the Cleveland Indians than the Seattle Mariners.  Cleveland suffered when they traded everyone off but they had a plan and are now one of the most exciting teams.  The Mariners are slowly getting worse and worse with no chance of going to the playoffs.

With the Dodgers and Dbacks farm systems we can't afford to try to play catch up in the FA market.
